This is the high risk - high return portion of a barbelled (with regard to risk) portfolio. These are just some of the small cap names.

-
CPD
Caraco Pharma Lab - $4.05
- +2.27%
- $3.98
One of my previous VC companies. Formerly a board member. Still have very large position. Sun Pharma out of India is in charge and is a superior manager of generic drugs. Long term growth. Never mind the BS about the old tech transfer agreement. All noise, and virtually complete anyway. Just compute all fundamentals based on 42MM shrs eventually o/s. Will do over $1 in cash flow in 2007

-
GEOID
N/a - $7.30
- 0.00
- $7.30
Symbol will revert to just GEOI on May 16. Super growth vehicle VERY misunderstood and very much latent unappreciated value. Superior proven management. Disclosure: I am on Board and very large shareholder.

-
HPQ
Hewlett Packard C - $49.91
- +0.42%
- $49.71
Not small cap, but eating Dell's lunch right now. No one competes in printers. More to come on the upside.

-
BBND
Bigband Networks - $3.70
- 0.00%
- $3.63
Not a true micro-cap, but a major play on bandwidth expansion. The hope is for renewed BIG spending by cable, telecom companies to offer more high revenue services.

-
POL
Polyone Corp - $6.52
- +1.72%
- $6.42
Exceedingly cheap, well run diversified chemical/plastics company. As they said in the 50's..."Plastics - you gotta be in plastics."

-
JASO
Ja Solar Holdings - $4.12
- +6.19%
- $3.88
While I'm generally not a fan of most "green tech" (just because most are unproven and premature for investment), this one is uniquely located (in China), with unique "connections" in an enormous market. It is already delivering product and will double its capacity (and sales) this year.

-
OMNI
Omni Energy Servi - $1.1399
- -3.40%
- $1.11
Small rapidly growing oil services co. This is a "picks and shovels selection. ALL oil companies need to find oil. Rather than trying to find the one that actaully finds oil, buy the company that sells them the services to look.

-
DWSN
Dawson Geophysica - $22.49
- -1.79%
- $22.96
Same story as OMNI. Only DWSN is more established. This one has run a long way and may be due for a breather. But still an excellent company with a bright future.
