The sharpest rallies always come out of the most brutal bear markets and this week’s enormous move higher was no expectation
Rumors surrounding a potential good bank bad bank announcement, potential passing of a stimulus package and possible comments from Treasury Secretary Tim Geither Monday night all sparked a 5% move higher in the S&P 500 this week
However, coming into this week it is my belief that traders will sell into this news, fully living out the mantra of “buy the rumor...sell the news” action

-
PCX
Patriot Coal Corp - $12.62
- 0.00%
- $N/A
Patriot Coal (PCX): Can the strength from Peabody (BTU) last week be extrapolated towards the broader coal sector as a whole, or is it just Peabody specific? Demand from China?

-
NVDA
Nvidia Corporatio - $13.83
- +0.80%
- $13.86
NVIDIA (NVDA): Despite the NASDAQ’s massively outperformance last week, how are the chip stocks holding up? We know that Intel (INTC) forecasted weak sales across all of their brands, but can the more volatility NVIDIA hold up? Furthermore, how is the high end computer game market fairing?

-
TNH
Terra Nitr Co Lp - $108.00
- 0.00%
- $N/A
Terra Nitrogen (TNH): With serious buy-side momentum across the whole agricultural space last week will trades take profits off ahead of the quarter? Potash’s (POT) quarter was positively received by the market despite citing a weak economy.

-
CBG
Cb Richard Ellis - $12.01
- -2.12%
- $12.31
CB Richard Ellis Group (CBG): This one is particularly interesting as CB Richard Ellis is one of the largest commercial properties managers in the US. We all know their outlook is going to be gloomy…but how gloomy? What about the $3.4 billion dollars in debt that needs to be rolled over? How is that going to be funded?

-
XL
Xl Capital Ltd - $18.09
- -1.74%
- $18.55
XL Capital (XL): I want to see what the stated book value is here---last time this stock went up 80% on news that the book value was double where the common stock was trading. That said, Hartford Financial (HIG) did report a huge loss last week.

-
USO
U.s. Oil Fund Et - $38.52
- -0.82%
- $38.64
On the long side this week, I am also recommending the United States Oil Trust (USO) at $28.20 or so.
