Here is last week's performance break-down:
GRMN up +13.58%
NYX down -3.58%
BSX down -4.42%
LRCX down -2.52%
GLS down -4.34%
ARII up +12.96%
EMC down -1.36%
ETN down -1.27%
LOCM up +30.13%
CROX +9.87%
Average return: +4.91% DOW was only up 0.8%
Let's pick some winners and pray to our trading gods. Although, it doesn't really matter if the market goes up or down -- even if the market has a disastrous week, it will still be the case that out of the 8,000 public companies, at least 1,000 to 2,000 stocks will go up. It's our job to find and bring you those stocks.
The goal of this portfolio is not necessarily to find the best stocks for the next century but the ones that can either snapback this week because of an irrational selloff last week, or they have some other potential catalyst that can create explosive potential during the coming week.

-
EBAY
Ebay Inc. - $23.74
- -0.71%
- $23.98
Near its 52-week low Ebay is worth looking at again. With the holiday session in full swing consumers will be using this auction site to buy a lot of their products. Ebay is mostly a snapback play, do you remember those great earnings it had last quarter? Ebay is finally getting there operational management working and this in-return will go to the bottom line. With the stock $4 from its low Ebay is perfect for a snapback rally into the holidays. Also, there earnings for the 4th quarter are going to be even better than last.

VCLK
Valueclick - $10.08
- -1.37%
- $10.24
Also worth look at this week is ValueClick, A little known fact is that as GDP deceases advertising from companies in general increases. There are many reasons and possible for this but as more and more of adverting is being moved away from “old-media” to the “new-media” ValueClick is the perfect company to own. On Friday Citi came out and upgraded shares of VCLK putting a price target of $30 on its shares.

-
HPQ
Hewlett Packard C - $49.91
- +0.42%
- $49.71
Next up is Hewlett-Packard which is set to report earnings on Monday after the close. Trading better then the Nasdaq HPQ is a play off overall global PC demand. Recent earnings from Nividia (NVDA) and EMC (EMC) suggest that Microsoft’s window vista has sold more units than expected. Hewlett-Packard has been trading slide-ways ever since Goldman Sachs took it off its conviction buy list and replaced it with DELL. While Goldman still kept its buy rating on the stock this “de-listing” from the conviction buy list gave people an unjustified reason to sell.

DKS
Dick's Sporting G - $23.98
- -0.33%
- $24.25
Dick’s Sporting Goods (DKS): Dick’s is a very interesting and volatile stock which is set to report earnings on Tuesday. Clearly, not your typical retailer Dick caterers to a broad base of consumers specializing in everything from sports gear to mountain apparel. This broad based product diversification has allowed Dick’s to successfully weather even the smallest downturn in spending. With a gigantic short position of 20%, or roughly 21MM shares, DKS is posed to move higher as an earnings play. For starters estimates in the broader retail sector are so low that even the slights bit of good news could propel this stock higher. Dick’s has consistently beaten earnings and offered good guidance even while the overall retail sector has been bad and I suspect the same. With $3.5BB in sales and profit and operation margins slightly above industry standards. Remember, Dick’s is not your typical retailer and thus it should not be treated like one!

TGT
Target Cp - $48.99
- +0.12%
- $48.98
Also worth checking out is Target, Jim called Target “The gold standard of shopping because of its variety and excitement” What makes Target worth owning to investors is that it generates more growth than any other broad retailer and that it is planning to sell its credit-card business. Recent figures suggest that Targets credit-card business could be worth more than $5 billion. Once its Credit-Card unit is sold off I suspect they will use most of that money to instate a buyback. This buy-back (similar to KSS) could decrease the share count by as much as 10%. Jim called Target “The Wal-Mart killer”

-
LVLT
Level 3 Communica - $1.21
- -3.20%
- $1.22
LVLT has been a horrible stock but I think it has bottomed here. On Thursday someone bought 164,000 of the March $5 calls and 165,000 of the March $7.5 calls and with 130MM shares sold short this could be someone hedging their bets but I think it means more than that. While, LVLT has been “missing the ball” on the operational side of the business, the overall demand for bandwidth is only growing each day. Trading 1.5x normal volume and up 13% on Friday no news I think LVLT is worth buying here.

-
ABI
Safety First Trus - $11.26
- +1.53%
- $11.26
Applera Corp-Applied Biosystems is a very interesting stock; ABI makes instrument-based systems, consumables, software, and services. Its products and services are used in basic human disease research and genetic analysis; pharmaceutical drug discovery, development, and manufacturing; agriculture research; human identity testing. What is most interesting is the agriculture and human identity testing. After reciviing a very intrseting upgrade from JP Morgan from Neutral to Overweight. Stock remains attractive on a sum of the parts basis. Share buybacks and restructuring could also add to earnings.

-
CSUN
China Sunergy Co. - $3.95
- +7.92%
- $3.70
CSUN subsidiaries engage in the design, development, manufacture, and marketing of solar cells in China. The company manufactures solar cells from silicon wafers utilizing crystalline silicon solar cell technology to convert sunlight directly into electricity through a process, known as the photovoltaic effect. China Sunergy sells its solar cell products through direct sales force to module manufacturers and system integrators, who assemble its solar cells into solar modules and solar power systems for use in various markets worldwide. The last time Stockpickr talked about a Chinese Solar company was three weeks ago: SOLF, which we said was a buy at $9.6- Its now at $13.25. And we feel the same way about CSUN which just announced an approval of N-type cell patent; which is there for 20 years. This announcement is a major one which resloves the issue of polysilicon and the shortage issue in the sector. Trades at 12x ESTS Solar and China!
