Ritchie Capital is a global alternative asset management firm that seeks to provide superior risk adjusted absolute returns by combining deep industry expertise and a culture that passionately pursues innovative thinking with a proven investment process.
Founded in 1997 by Thane Ritchie, the firm has built its reputation on an ability to be early in identifying emerging alpha generating opportunities from an uncommonly broad investment universe.
Much of Mr. Ritchie’s life has been dedicated to trading and the financial markets and his passion for trading emerged early. At the young age of 12, Mr. Ritchie was invited to apprentice full time in a trading pit by his father Joe Ritchie, founder of Chicago Research and Trading, and a legend in the options market. A natural, Mr. Ritchie would spend the next decade developing his trading skills while simultaneously preparing to attend college. In 1994, Mr. Ritchie founded Ritchie Capital Markets, L.L.C., which primarily engaged in the proprietary trading of U.S. government bonds and options.
Then, in 1997, Mr. Ritchie developed his vision for Ritchie Capital and launched the firm with a focus on arbitrage and relative value strategies.
The firm is headquartered in Geneva, Illinois with offices in New York, Chicago, London, Bermuda, Hong Kong, and Menlo Park, California.
