Prentice Capital was started by 2 former SAC Capital traders, Michael Zimmerman and Jonathan Duskin. The firm started in May, 2005 and was funded with $400mm, primarily from Stevie Cohen’s SAC. They tend to focus on the retail sector, are buy and hold investors, and could take controlling stakes. Currently they significant stakes in retail companies such as The Wet Seal, Inc., KB Toys, Inc., and Goody's Family Clothing. Noteworthy is that Wet Seal has also been a big SAC position, signaling that perhaps SAC piggybacks Prentice positions.
