Phoenix Foreign Opportunity Fund is an open-end fund incorporated in the USA. The Fund's objective is long-term capital appreciation. The Fund invests at least 80% of its net assets in equity securities of issuers that are located outside of the United States.

The fund received 4 stars from Morningstar.

From Barron's 6-18-07:
"Rajov Jain, who took over the Phoenix Foreign Opportunities Fund in early 2002, has consistently beaten most of his peers. His secret?

Getting enough picks right to more than offset his mistakes, as any successful active money manager must do. Among other things working against him were his light exposure to energy, and his relatively low exposure to China, which Jain maintains is overvalued compared with other world markets. He also avoids corporate restructurings and cyclical companies...But clearly, he's gotten a lot right. His portfolio (ticker: JVIAX) has a five-year annual return of 20.3%, putting it in the top 6% of Morningstar's foreign large-blend category. Lipper points out that the fund has outperformed most of its peers while having just an average risk profile, as measured by standard deviation. So relative to rivals, Jain isn't betting the ranch to get these results. "Every company we own should be a growing enterprise," explains Jain. "Having said that, you don't want to pay for the growth."
