Growth opportunities into both derivatives and foreign markets. Sarkozy presidency could create higher volume and listings in Paris. Also trying to position itself in the Middle East and Asia creating the chance for a truly global financial market. Hank Paulson's emphasis on shopping US financial expertise to China and ROW could benefit GS in the LT. Near term the private equity boom can both benefit the traders as well as takeover artists housed in GS. GS will be "fed" at every step in the process. The consultants will be brought in, the traders will receive the premiums, the fixed income issuers will leverage the newly privatized companies, and the IPOers will then bring the companies back to market in a few years.

Fuel costs are not going down anytime soon and as most domestic airlines have just recently cleaned up their balance sheets they will likely want to buy the more fuel efficient Dreamliner when the financing is cheaper. Also the expansion of the global airplane market will extend this upgrade cycle for longer than previous cycles. Not to mention that EADS can't seem to get anything right and defense spending will continue no matter who is elected in '08 (threats aren't going away).
