OK, to better my skill and because I am REALLY turning into a junkie, I decided to create a portfolio to track all of the Companies that will be presenting at this years JP Morgan 26th Annual Healthcare Conference held on Jan 7th-10th. I think it will be interesting to see how they do leading up to the conf and after they report. I am going to try and do research on each one and try to find any really cool surprises they may be coming up with. I will try and rate them on how sexy these companies may be when they come out in San Francisco next week..lol. This is going to be so much fun....I guess this gives new meaning to "let's play Doctor".
So, these are a list of the Public Companies that will be presenting in their mainrooms on Jan 7th...it should be noted that I can only list so many on one portfolio.so there are 2 parts to this portfolio

AMLN
Amylin Pharma Inc - $21.11
- -1.72%
- $21.31
Not Really Sexy...They have a diabetic LAR is stage III but not near end. Obesity Drugs are in Stage II or less. Plus, Rodman & Renshaw on December 31 mention that Byetta's November sales declined by 1% m/m in November and are tracking marginally below the 4Q07 estimate of $170 million. Sales of Amylin Pharmaceuticals’ Symlin treatment declined by 3.1% and are tracking in-line the estimate of $18 million. So many other fun things to play with.

This is a really cool company..darn sexy..On it's website it shows all the new programs it has for RNA/DNA This from The STEET.. One of Icahn's new purchases is Applera Corp-Applied Biosystems Group (ABI - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr - Rating), which makes and sells systems and software used for human disease research, genetic analysis and pharmaceutical drug discovery. The stock has a P/E of 22, a PEG of 1.81 and pays a dividend of 0.5%. Applera also is owned by the Schwab Health Care Fund, which invests 80% of its net assets in the health care sector. The fund has generated an average annual return of more than 18% over the last five years ****I am posting this part after the convention. ABI had a nice run up after they presented but gave it back today (Friday)..it appears the source came from Morningstar that posted this...Invitrogen Corporation (NasdaqGS:IVGN - News)Industry: Biotechnology Price to Fair Value Estimate: 142% From the Analyst Report: "...Invitrogen operates without an economic moat and competes with other firms selling a large number of similar products. For instance, Qiagen (NasdaqGS:QGEN - News), Applied Biosystems, a unit of Applera (NYSE:ABI - News), and Invitrogen all sell kits to amplify DNA, which gives each firm little opportunity to raise prices. In addition, there are almost no barriers to entry in the industry and startup firms routinely develop new technologies that challenge existing ones. As a result, Invitrogen must constantly innovate to keep its product-line fresh and differentiated. However, even if Invitrogen develops a technological advantage, it will likely prove short-lived, as competitors with equal or greater resources spend heavily to catch up."

May or may not be DARN SEXY!!! The Sexy part is what it says about it's partner. Will Review it's Clinical Stage Pipeline. This is a London Company that is at it's 52 wk low. You may not want this but it may give info on it's partner in ASA 404.. IT IS partnered with Novartis where Novartis is responsible for future developement of their Phase 3 drug ASA404.Antisoma: Novartis Will Include Non-Squamous NSCLC Patients In Phase III ASA404 Trial The Pink Sheet Daily. 2007 Nov 21, B. McManus Novartis is doubling the population that will be enrolled in its Phase III trial of ASA404 in non-small cell lung cancer to include both squamous and non-squamous forms of the disease, licensing partner Antisoma said. The company previously planned to limit the trial, which will commence in early 2008, to patients with squamous NSCLC, a far smaller population. Novartis is currently in discussions with FDA regarding the design of the Phase III study, Antisoma noted Nov. 20 during its annual general... .they also have a Phase II AS1411 for leukemia data on random study due out the first 1/2 of the year. ASA404 treats non-small cell lung cancer by small molecule vascular disrupting agent (VDA) disrupts est tumor blood vessels. LONDON--(MARKET WIRE)--Nov 20, 2007 -- ASA404 phase III lung cancer trial to include broader range of patients London, UK: 20 November 2007 - Cancer drug developer Antisoma plc (LSE: ASM; USOTC: ATSMY) holds its AGM today. At the meeting, CEO Glyn Edwards will provide an update on the Company's key pipeline products and other corporate developments: "We are making significant advances across our pipeline, and expect to achieve further important milestones during 2008. ASA404 - update on plans for phase III trial in lung cancer Our licensing partner, Novartis, plans to start a pivotal phase III trial of ASA404 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in early 2008. This trial will now include patients with both major types of NSCLC: squamous and non-squamous. Previous guidance was that the pivotal study would be limited to patients with squamous disease. Discussions with regulatory authorities regarding the trial design are ongoing. Because more patients are diagnosed with non-squamous than squamous NSCLC, this change more than doubles the population of NSCLC patients addressed directly by the phase III trial. Eligibility for the phase III trial will now be similar to that in our phase II studies, where we showed a substantial survival benefit with ASA404 in a broad population of NSCLC patients. If the phase III trial is successful, applications to market ASA404 for NSCLC will be filed in 2010 or 2011. The drug also has potential in other cancers. These include prostate cancer, where Antisoma has reported encouraging interim data from a phase II trial and expects to report survival findings next year BUT the Novartis website looking for information on this future drug. NO information. Not even under a potential clinical drug trial. Nov 2007 LONDON, Nov 20 (Reuters) - Novartis AG (NOVN.VX: Quote, Profile, Research) and its partner Antisoma Plc (ASM.L: Quote, Profile, Research) plan to take on established blockbuster Avastin in the lung cancer market, according to revised clinical trial plans unveiled on Tuesday. An enlarged study programme for their experimental drug ASA404 expands the market potential of the product but may be risky, according to industry analysts. "The trial design essentially positions the product as a direct competitor to Avastin," Nomura Code Securities analyst Samir Devani said in a note. "While this is a courageous effort, and significantly expands the potential peak sales of the product, we believe patient recruitment may be challenging as Avastin's use becomes standard of care." Novartis, which licensed rights to ASA404 from Antisoma in April, had originally planned to test the drug only in patients with squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), who cannot use Roche Holding AG (ROG.VX: Quote, Profile, Research) and Genentech Inc's (DNA.N: Quote, Profile, Research) Avastin. The new Phase III programme, due to start in early 2008, will now include non-squamous patients as well. ASA404, if successful, would be the first in a new type of anti-cancer treatment designed to disrupt the flow of blood to tumours. It works in a different way to Avastin, which also starves tumour cells of blood. Antisoma, which gave a pipeline update at its annual meeting, also announced a delay to a mid-stage Phase II study of its AS1411 drug in kidney cancer. Analysts had been expecting this trial to commence in the first half of 2008 but the company now plans more preclinical and toxicology work on repeat dosing before starting. Antisoma shares were 9.6 percent lower at 23.5 pence by 1125 GMT. (Reporting by Ben Hirschler; Editing by David Cowell)
