Valero Energy Cp - $17.06

Great value at these prices ($50/share). With a P/E under 6 and being the largest refiner in the US, eventually the market will have to jump on this one. It's a core holding.

MO
Altria Group Inc - $19.26
- +1.26%
- $19.07
The king of value stocks. Once KFT is broken off, it should unleash the remainder of the tobacco giant. With a dividend around 4%, it's a keeper.

-
PCL
Plum Creek Tim Re - $33.94
- +1.43%
- $33.44
An interesting commodity stock as well as a REIT. It is the largest landowner in the U.S. - around 8 million acres, and pays over 4% while waiting for it to take off. If you are tired of hi tech companies that have simply an IDEA as their only asset, try PCL and feel safe knowing you own a part of 8 million acres.

Every portfolio should own a major bank as a core holding. Wachovia is it. They are king in the continuously growing S.E. USA, and they pay a nice dividend of 4%. They have spread out to the West with the purchase of Golden West Financial. Just hope that those assets are not too heavy in bad loans made during the high flying real estate boom.

ASTM
Aastrom Bioscienc - $0.3398
- +2.35%
- $0.3399
This is my one speculative stock. This is probably one of the best, if not the best stem cell research play. Their business model focuses on NON-embryonic cells so the bible thumpers should not object. Check it out!
