What I look for: Low PEG, 15%+ Return on Assets, Debt to Equity ratio less than 1. Past growth, and predicted long-term growth greater than 12% annually. 5 years consecutive improving earnings. Limited cyclical exposure.
Purchase price determined by considering conservative growth rate in relation to historic average and 25th percentile PE ratios for the stock. It is complicated, and highly quantitative, which eliminates emotion.
Now, there is VERY LITTLE out there that is a bargain. Most of my positions are old-timers, bought when the pickings were better.

AIB
Allied Irish Bank - $5.00
- 0.00%
- $4.14
One of strongest growing banks in Europe, still selling at a discount. Great growth potential into Poland.

-
BBY
Best Buy Inc - $37.91
- 0.00%
- $37.54
Differentiation with competitors through service. (Would you buy a big screen tv from Wal Mart??) Interested in international growth primarily, especially China. Domestic growth is a bonus.

-
SPLS
Staples - $21.77
- +0.55%
- $21.62
Very well-run company selling at a discount to historic PE. Not as tied to consumer spending as other retailers.

-
BRO
Brown & Brown - $19.85
- 0.00%
- $19.47
Insurer selling at a significant historic discount, but still has great growth.

-
SCRX
Sciele Pharma - $0.00
- 0.00%
- $N/A
Sells drugs that other companies spend billions to produce. Extremely low sales cost. Flexible. Low PEG even if growth is 25% below expectations.

-
TPX
Tempur-pedic Inte - $11.71
- 0.00%
- $11.96
Baby Boomers have the money, have more aches and pains, and want to be comfortable. TPX makes Mercedes of bedding while everyone else makes, at best, Chryslers.

-
PG
Procter & Gamble - $53.71
- 0.00%
- $53.23
Avg PE and growth calcuations reveal 15% compounded annual rate of return over next 5 years at purchase price. Unshakable consistency.

-
ORCL
Oracle Corporatio - $20.35
- +2.16%
- $19.77
Avg PE and growth calcuations reveal 15% compounded annual rate of return over next 5 years at purchase price.
