Kramer was screaming about this one when it was below $200. With much trepidation, I took his advice - 100 shares at $190 (big stake for me). As a software developer, I am inclined toward tech stocks and I liked goog's secular growth story. I sold half at $366 and am riding with the remaining 50 shares. It's the best single investment I have had.

MSFT
Microsoft Corpora - $29.78

I have used msft's software development tools for years and agree with the sentiment that they are, and have been, awesome. I recommended msft to a friend as an investment in 1995. She bought a couple hundred shares and got rich. I dithered and finally bought 2000 shares in 1998; watched them double in 1999, when even my mutual funds doubled, and then watched them come all the way back down. I'm marginally smarter now - sold my stake last year for 26; bought it back at 24; and am now holding it with great expectations for Vista and XBox 360. I also believe in the Tooth Fairy.

ERTS
Electronic Arts I - $16.85

- $17.01
I am attracted to the video game industry, not as a gamer, but as an investor. Didn't catch erts in its glory days, but found an attractive entry point recently when it tanked between game box cycles. Accumulated 500 sh. all the way down for an avg cost of $48. Feel fairly comfortable holding it for the intermediate term, but I'm watching it like a hawk.

GERN
Geron Corporation - $6.20
- +13.97%
- $5.45
gern is a speculation - they don't make any money, but they have a lot of patents. Great story, long term. If they ever turn a profit, it should take off. Meanwhile, I have made money, trading it: bought it at 7.79; sold it at 9.60. Bought it again at 8.25; sold it at 8.65; I now have 1000 shares at 7.13, and the last couple days, it has started spiking again on no news. My finger is on the trigger, even as I type.

JDSU

My name is Larry and I am a recovering JDSU investor. My personal testimonial for disheartened investors, searching for company to be miserable in: in the year of our Lord, 2000, I bought $18000 worth of JDSU for an avg. price of $60. Every day, I read the JDSU message board on YAHOO!, where a disgusting person was ranting interminably, "SELL THAT BLOATED PIG!" It never occurred to any of us that he could have been right. At the bottom, my stake was worth $450. Undaunted, I bought several thousand more shares and rode them to a double, ($1.88 to $4.05). I still own JDSU today.

Everybody needs water, right? First, I bought pnr - made a little money, then lost it all and then some. Got rid of that. Now, I own wtr - it went up and then it went way down. I could use a drink.
