I've been an active investor for close to two years. Positions date from November 2009. All pay a dividend, generally 2% or higher.

-
XLNX
Xilinx - $22.28
- -1.46%
- $22.42
18.2% of portfolio. This San Jose semiconductor company offers a 2.6% yield (among the highest for a technology stock) and trades for 16 times earnings. I sold some in early September to lock in a 19% gain, and will be looking to buy more at a pullback under 22.

-
PEP
Pepsico Inc - $62.08
- +0.32%
- $61.67
14.3% of portfolio. PepsiCo produces the internationally prominent food and beverage brands Pepsi, Gatorade, Quaker Oats, Tropicana and Frito-Lay. PEP offers a 3.0% yield and trades for 17 times earnings.

-
MMM
3m Company - $76.64
- -0.79%
- $77.22
17.3% of portfolio. This dividend aristocrat and Dow Jones Industrial stalwart offers a 2.9% yield and trades for 17 times earnings. 3M produces over 75,000 products that are distributed globally. For example, their office products (Scotch tape, Post-It notes, etc.) and roadway traffic control devices are ubiquitous.

-
JNJ
Johnson And Johns - $62.31
- +0.60%
- $61.82
18.6% of portfolio. The first stock that I ever bought, this "dividend aristocrat" yields a generous 3.1% and trades for 13 to 14 times earnings. I've recently added to my position as it hovered around 60.

-
CAT
Caterpillar Inc - $57.95

10.5% of portfolio. Another DJIA stalwart, this machinery stock plunged in the second half of 2008 but rebounded strongly in 2009. It offers a 3.9% yield and trades for 15 times earnings.

-
VZ
Verizon Commun - $30.43
- -0.29%
- $30.38
11.0% of portfolio. Verizon offers a 6+% yield and trades for 15 times earnings. This Dow Jones Industrial has traded steadily in the 28-32 range.

-
KMB
Kimberly Clark Cp - $64.75
- 0.00%
- $64.70
6.2% of portfolio. This Dallas-based maker of Scott, Kleenex and Huggies products offers a 3.5% yield and trades for 15 times earnings. Has rebounded nicely from a low of 43.

-
ESEA
Euroseas Ltd. - $4.61
- -0.65%
- $4.65
0.8% : this small-cap Greek ocean shipping company offers a 7.7% yield and trades for 11 times earnings. This stock collapsed from 15 to 3 during the second half of 2008 (like most dry bulk shippers) as the dividend shrunk. It has slightly rebounded to 4-5 but is still well below my entry point. A major disappointment, but I'm glad this was a relatively small initial investment.
