I was shopping at the Saks at the Galleria in Dallas, and just out of curiousity asked a manger there how there Dec sales looked. She looked at me funny then suggested I asked this other lady standing near by, who happen to be the regoinal manger. I asked her the same question and she appeared hesitant as to why I was asking, I told her I was just curious. She then proceeded to tell me the entire finacial records for the Dec sales and end of year profits. and I quote "Saks 5th ave and Macy's both had record sales this December" end quote. - Enough said.

The beating AMD took in the fourth quarter may not be the dire omen it appears to be. For one thing, says microprocessor analyst Nathan Brockwood, Intel is benefiting from the fact that it is at the beginning of a product cycle, whereas AMD is fielding a stale product lineup. That should change in mid-2007 when AMD releases its quad-core Barcelona processor. AMD has already had success, winning over new customers such as Dell (DELL - news - Cramer's Take - Rating) and Lenovo. New chips will only help. Intel has also used its head start manufacturing chips with 65-nanometer circuitry to undercut AMD on price. AMD only began volume shipments of 65-nanometer chips in December, so it had derived little benefit from the process in the fourth quarter. As the year unfolds, though, says Brockwood, "65 nanometer will play a big role in terms of cost reduction and in terms of enabling new architecture introductions."

Q. How are stock futures calculated...
11.12.09 | 13:34 PM Asked by Scott_13

A. Fair Value is a measure of the
relationship between the actual value of
an index and the spot price of the
index. If the futures are above fair
value, it is an indication that traders
believe that the value off the index is
going higher. If the futures are below
fair value, it is an indication that
traders believe that the value of the
index is headed lower.

Generally, for the DJIA each point of
the futures above fair value is good for
about 8 points on the DJIA.
