Although Crude Oil and Gold always hog the headlines when it comes to the commodity markets, the grains markets (wheat, corn, soybeans) have had a fantastic run in the past 2 months.
The move started with Wheat: (http://tinyurl.com/yfauoo) then spilled over to Corn (http://tinyurl.com/yj2uwk) and the Beans (http://tinyurl.com/y9hes3)
All of this has happened while most commodities have not gone anywhere on average and are near yearly lows, as witnessed by the CRB index (http://tinyurl.com/ykbt47)
So I was curious about what's happening to the companies that work in producing, processing and selling these grains. Figuring out a trade to do is complicated. On the one hand these companies are tied to booming grain commodities, but on the other hand they are also tied to the whole ethanol/alternative fuels sector which isnt going to be doing well if Crude Oil continues to make new lows.
So for now, this portfolio is just something to monitor.
