Fortune Magazine is out with this year's list of the 100 best companies (public or private) to work for. As the magazine points out itself, the 100 companies it picks every year tend to significantly outperform the S&P 500.
Quoting the article: “Indeed, the Best Companies to Work For returned a total of 18.1 percent to shareholders over the last three years, while the S&P notched only 10.5 percent. Among the Best Companies, No. 22-ranked Valero Energy was the biggest gainer by far, with a whopping three-year return of 65.8 percent.”
The article goes on to say that over the past 5 years the companies in their list has returned an average of 15.7%, while the S&P has only returned 6.2%
This portfolio consists of the top 20 public companies on their list.
