The stocks in this portfolio are from market sectors whoich are in a long term bull market mode. Most are stock ideas from Jim Cramer's "Mad Money" TV show and/or Jim's "Action Alerts PLUS." I continue to hold them because they continue to deliver the results. Some stocks represent market "niches" which insulate them from serious competition and/or guarantee their continued success. The strongest bull markets going forward are oil services, deepwater drilling, power generation infrastructure, and industrial infrastructure. In addition, mining stocks and natural resource commodities will continue to benefit from the rapidly emerging economies of China, India, Brazil, Eastern Europe, Mexico, etc.

McDermott (MDR) is a deepwater driller, and power generatioin infrastructure play. MDR operates in three segments: Offshore Oil and Gas Construction, Government Operations, and Power Generation Systems. Most analysts agree that the vast majority of new oil discoveries will be from deepwater drilling sites. In addition, MDR has announced that it is commiting R&D funds to develop new technologies for the sequestration of carbon dioxide emissions in the construction of coal-fired electric generation plants. And, MDR has been mentioned as a possible take-over target. Since my original purchase in June 2005, MDR's stock has soared by +657.5%!!!

Alleghely Technologies (ATI) produces titanium. Titanium is the basis for Boeing's new passenger jet, which iuses less fuel because titanium weighs less than ordinary steel. This stock will continue to move higher as the global aerospace boom is still in its infancy. Demand for new, more fuel-efficient passenger jets should continue to explode as the economies of India, China, Brazil, Mexico, Eastern Europe, etc. continue to expand. Since my March 2005 purchase of ATI, the stock has increased by +383.7%!!!

Omniture (OMTR) announced that it has agreed to purchase Offermatica for $65 million in stock and cash. A leading provider of online testing and optimization tools, Offermatica will enhance OMTR's product suite and further solidify the company's leadership in the burgeoning web analytics sector. I believe that OMTR is pursuing a multi-billion dollar opportunity over the next 3-5 years. OMTR is also a take-over target (per Jim Cramer). Since my original purchase in June 2006, the stock has increased by +322.6%!!!

BHP is a commodities smorgasborg --- Gold, nickle, aluminium, coal, materials for titanium, oil, copper, base metals, etc. BHP engages in mining, drilling, and processing mineral resources. It operates through seven segments: Petroleum, Aluminium, Base Metals, Carbon Steel Materials, Diamonds and Specialty Products, Energy Coal, and Stainless Steel Materials. BHP is rumored to be preparing to release a resource upgrade for the copper, gold and uranium Olympic Dam Mine, with indications that the gold resource will be the largest in the world (i.e., the Mine is already the largest uranium mine, and the fourth largest copper mine in the world). BHP's location in close proximity to China and India positions BHP to continue to accelerate earnings through 2010. This is a good "sleep at night" stock! Since my original purchase in September of 2004, the stock has soared by +212.6%!!!

Foster Wheeler (FWLT) provides engineering and construction services to the oil and gas, oil refining, chemical/petrochemical, pharmaceutical, environmental, power generation, and power plant operation and maintenance sectors worldwide. It is a leading firm in the global infrastructure boom, with an order backlog of more than three years. The global shortage of qualified engineers will continue to propel this stock higher, as the 2008 Olympics in Beijing places China in competition for limited engineering resources world-wide. Since my original purchase in June 2006, the stock has increased by +245.9%!!!

  • GG
    Goldcorp Inc
  • $27.50
  • -7.38%
  • $29.41

Goldcorp (GG) is a low cost gold producer. It has entered an agreement with Kinross Gold Corporation to acquire Kinross' 49% share of the Porcupine gold mines in northeastern Ontario and its 32% share of the Musselwhite gold mine in northwestern Ontario. In exchange, Kinross will receive Goldcorp's 50% stake in the La Coipa silver-gold mine in Chile and $200 million in cash. This demonstrates GG's continuing commitment to simplify its asset portfolio and to focus efforts within its core operating districts. In Porcupine and Musselwhite, GG has two solid operations with very long mine lives, outstanding growth potential and first-rate operating teams. The possibility of a 2008 U.S. recession, and continuing U.S. credit "problems," should propel gold prices to new highs. Since my original purchase in September 2004, GG's stock has soared +155.2%!!!
