I have never admitted to being a fan of anyone, but the source of the ideas that led to my portfolio are hard to deny. Most will probably recognize the source without my actually having to admit it.
None the less, thanks to Jim for being who he is.
The portfolio name might be misleading, unless you read the bio. There are 14 Salukis to keep fed in the house... and no, it's not a basketball team.
6/23/07-Though tempted this week to add to the positions in NYX and SHLD (what a sale those two are having), diversity won out in the end. Thus, the best of breed financial has been added. GS had a sale too.
7/21/07- That call was just plain wrong. SHLD & GS are down even more. Luckily, GS was exited with minimal pain. The sooner you admit a mistake, the better. The power of the rumor can't be fought.
6/15/08- Been quite a while since i was here and our stocks are now up to date. These are my warped idea of somewhere to ride out the storm with the addition of some dividend payers.

TSCM
Thestreet.com - $2.36
- -0.84%
- $2.35
2/21/08- Good fundies, good price, good management, great potential. Don't believe the rumors around contract talks. i might buy a few more tomorrow. Yes, i'm, a believer. 6/15/08-Scaled into this down to $7.50. With the patience to let it work for 6-12 months.

-
PBT
Permian Basin Roy - $13.70
- -1.51%
- $13.74
6/15/08-Took a while after it was recommended to find a good entry for this one. But patience paid off. With a 10%+ dividend, and the strength of oil and nat. gas going forward, seemed like a good place to let some capital ride out the volatility.

-
EMC
E M C Cp - $16.75
- -0.95%
- $16.40
7/20 - Time for Tech. The spin off should provide some additional momentum. Small position to start, before earnings on 7/23. Seems to trade well even in an off market.

-
NYX
Nyse Euronext - $25.24
- -2.09%
- $25.08
I just can't find a way this won't be a big winner in the long run. Unless civilization comes to an end. I guess management could screw it up, but not these guys. Cash waiting if this one goes any lower. Cash used to double position near it's low. 7/21- Still believe it's worth the pain. Next couple of weeks could be interesting. 2/21/08- Sold some of these a while back. But retain a core holding for the longer run. 6/15/08-Bought back those shares + plus some more @$59. As i said, a long term holding. Still with great potential.

-
SHLD
Sears Holdings Co - $71.94
- -0.72%
- $70.33
The long term potential of Eddie Lambert. 7/21 - Still believe... but wondering just what Eddie is up to. Now the most painful stock for us. More than NYX even. We must be building lots of character. Stay tuned... but don't hold your breath. He's too smart to give up on easily. 12/11-Though we've sold a few and bought a few, we still hold a position. In fact, waiting for it to turn up to buy a few more. 2/21/08- Still believe. Bought a little at $95.

-
CPL
Cpfl Energia Sa A - $58.22
- -1.02%
- $56.26
6/15/08-A good dividend, growth, and currency appreciation. This one has come in nicely since it was recommended too. Still building a position on the way down from $70.

-
SID
Companhia Sider A - $34.25
- -2.97%
- $33.84
6/15/08-Vertically integrated Brazilian steel Co. From the mine, to the finished product, and everything in between. Anyone think steel will be in over supply any time soon? 4% dividend... the Brazilian Rael's strength. Just finished filling this position @$45

A. any forward growth guidance you get from
a company has to be taken with a grain
of salt. dubai was not news 2 days ago,
yesterday it clipped the s n p for 20
points. these are turbulent times and
all forward statements are a guess. 5
year ones are a joke. we've had a really
nice upternd for the last 8 months, that
may be coming to and end or at the very
least its probably gonna get choppy.
you're gonna have to be the judge of the
reliability of any future estimates and
any one stock can have multiple guesses
at theirs.
A. The only one I own : SLX,
too hard pick a winner out all of them
