These are my long term stocks. I add on weakness when appropriate. I do not intend to sell them unless my original thesis behind them changes or the company's fundamentals deteriorate. I am less concerned about minutia with these--I'm going for a long term secular thesis I think will pan out.

AGN
Allergan Inc - $59.08
- +0.82%
- $58.84
Allergan - eye-related disease, aesthetics market (acne, boobs and botox) and therapuetics market. From cdc.gov -- Projections indicate that the rate of growth for the total population from now to 2050 will be slower, but older age groups will continue to grow more rapidly than the total population. By 2029, all of the baby boomers will be age 65 years and over. As a result, the population age 65–74 years will increase from 6% to 10% of the total population between 2005 and 2030. From this conclusion, between 20-25 % of the US population will be over 65.

APD
Air Products Chem - $82.59
- -0.47%
- $82.96
Air Products and Chemicals - They make nitrogen for the oil and natural gas industry, and oxygen and helium for companies in the metals, chemicals and health-care industries. I think all these will experience more growth in the next 10 years that in the last 10 years. Second largest in space behind Praxair (see below)

-
PX
Praxair Inc - $82.78
- -0.81%
- $83.25
Praxair - see apd description. not the exact same company, but owning both stocks essentially allows me a monopoly in this space. industries they work in: http://www.praxair.com/praxair.nsf/AllContent/F091C0A8F6D4145885256A93005D0992?OpenDocument&URLMenuBranch=55FEF66A50FEC1D285257035005EEA8D

DEO
Diageo Plc Ads Ne - $68.93
- +0.17%
- $69.23
Diageo - WORLD play. Everyone likes alcohol and they have a lot of high volume brands. Now that's a moat! How do you replace cuervo of johnnie walker? Also, as BRIC/ROW/USA earn more $, they will spend it more on alcohol.

-
DNA
N/a - $80.43
- 0.00
- $80.43
Genentech - Biotech is hard for me to understand, I'm not an MD and I have no insider knowledge. I used to own GILD but I feel DNA has more potential, because I view cancer as a more serious health problem than AIDS (though I wish both were eradicated. That's the one instance where it would be ok for one of my stocks to "go to zero.") Also, DNA has 25% earnings growth for the next 5 years, and a strong pipeline.

-
AAPL
Apple Inc. - $204.44
- -0.70%
- $205.21
Apple - new media company, plus hot gadgets. This is my favorite company in this space. Like crammer said, why buy ERTS/THQ/TTWO when you can buy GME which sells all three? Same with AAPL. All the other media companies will sell through itunes store, and it has better gadgets. That makes it a better buy (to me) than DIS, TWX, NWS.A, CCU, SNE, DELL, HPQ plus myriad other gadget makers. I like SNDK, however.

-
DO
Diamond Offshore - $99.87
- +0.52%
- $99.16
Diamond Offshore - deep water offshore drilling.

-
GS
Goldman Sachs Grp - $171.13
- -0.51%
- $171.64
Goldman Sachs - A global asset master, a hedge fund, and proxy to the markets themselves. Berkshire used its insurance $ to buy strong companies and build capital. GS can do this from a financial powerhouse/conglomerate sense. With incredibly intelligent money/asset managers, and amazingly secret and equally amazing returns, if your going to invest in the market at all, you may as well buy GS.
