Jim Cramer has dug through this season's earnings reports to find the best defensive stocks in the market. This portfolio is made up of his top 4 picks.

-
PG
Procter Gamble - $62.48
- -0.62%
- $61.89
Cramer recommended Procter & Gamble (PG), a stock which he owns for his charitable trust, Action Alerts PLUS, as one such stock. He said Procter delivered a 7-cent-a-share upside surprise in its most recent quarter along with a 3.5% dividend yield.

-
GIS
Gen Mills Inc - $68.10
- -0.90%
- $67.74
Cramer also recommended General Mills (GIS). He said this company raised its 2010 guidance and has always been an outperformer. "People don't cut back on food," he said, "not even when they're dieting!"

-
WLP
Wellpoint Inc. - $54.24
- -1.56%
- $53.59
Talk about a monster quarter – WLP earned $1.53 a share, or $1.78 excluding one-time items, which is either a 16-cent or a 41-cent beat, respectively. While most of Wall Street fears health-care reform, Cramer doubts a new bill will hurt WellPoint all that much. At most, he predicted the company’s earnings per share would lose 10 cents, and that’s if there’s a loss at all. Regardless, WLP goes to $53 once the health-care debate is over, he said, no matter how it’s resolved.

-
MCD
Mcdonalds Cp - $63.60
- -0.47%
- $62.98
Finally, Cramer said McDonalds (MCD) completes his four-legged chair. He said McDonald's is another consistent company which beat the street by 4 cents a share, improved same store sales by 3.8%, and raised its dividend to a 4% yield.

A. any forward growth guidance you get from
a company has to be taken with a grain
of salt. dubai was not news 2 days ago,
yesterday it clipped the s n p for 20
points. these are turbulent times and
all forward statements are a guess. 5
year ones are a joke. we've had a really
nice upternd for the last 8 months, that
may be coming to and end or at the very
least its probably gonna get choppy.
you're gonna have to be the judge of the
reliability of any future estimates and
any one stock can have multiple guesses
at theirs.
A. The only one I own : SLX,
too hard pick a winner out all of them
