So far, OK. I would have liked to have seen the bank stocks open down and then rally. Instead we have them screaming at the opening and then going down. That's not the type of action I would like to see because, again, that's a sign that General Electric (GE) is not going to get it right plus recognition by some that Citigroup (C) isn't giving you the full story regarding the charges that might be against the profits. Also, we are seeing oil hold but oil leaders Schlumberger (SLB) and Halliburton (HAL) go down on analyst chatter that the majors are going to put the screws to the drillers. I don't want to see the commodity going lower because if oil not revert to the low $30s, it's a substantial sign that we will avoid depression. A "good" gasoline drawdown shows the consumer's not dead. I like the tech action: weaker opening and then holding in to go higher. Transports: Getting some news that volume are down, but that the bottom might have been reached. People will respect Union Pacific's (UNP) forecast; as it's been pretty good at giving traffic predictions. And the General Mills (GIS)/Procter & Gamble (PG) soft food story remains weak, which is actually good for the market: again, another signal that we've dodged a depression. So far: not perfect, but constructive and I think fitting with Doug Kass's monster buy call.
