“You know I like oil down here now that it has bounced off the low buck-teens, and I think natural gas is cheap, but there is one stock that's troubling me, that should be up much more -- Transocean (RIG). This best-of-breed player and wildest trader in the group is only up a couple of points and about 8 in the last couple of days, but on a percentage basis, that's not what I would expect out of this one. A couple of reasons. First, if you think that oil's going to stay here for the longer term, you would be placing orders out 2011 for Transocean -- the first time you can get rigs -- so this move should have impacted the oil market more. Second, if the Democrats and Republicans truly are embracing offshore oil drilling, then the big oil companies would be putting money down right now for the 2012-2016 period, which is probably realistic for when we can drill if it is allowed. The surge in McCain's numbers should cut in favor of RIG, too. So, why isn't it up more -- 3, 4? That would be typical. If this one doesn't start advancing more, I am willing to say that oil may not be going back to the $130s. RIG should be higher. It's a great tell for the group. Something's not right. If you think the futures are right, go buy some RIG. Otherwise, wait and see, because I expected more from this stock on this day. Suspicious. “

Q. Anyone buying CVS?
11.12.09 | 11:07 AM Asked by Skee Daddy

A. Was planning on buying it last week
after it tanked below 28.90, but decided
to hold off to see how the stock
performed for a few days after the bad
news. Should have bought; would have had
a one and a half point gain. In spite of
the bad news, financials still look
decent with a 10.7 forward PE and a 38%
earnings increase for the latest
quarter. However, they do carry a
significant amount of debt.
