Telecom and other tech stocks were making headlines on Wednesday, with AT&T (T) revealing its netbook plan, which includes a couple of mini-laptop offerings from Dell (DELL), and news that Verizon (VZ) is fortifying its and partnership with Cisco (CSCO).
In other news, education company Apollo Group (APOL), one of TheStreet.com Ratings' top 5 large-caps for March 25 and the recipient of a bearish call from James Altucher on Monday, lost more than 15% on Wednesday to close at $66.46. It reported better-than-expected earnings on Tuesday, but it also warned of increasing bad debt expense, earning the stock a downgraded from a Robert W. Baird analyst.
With this in mind, we thought we'd take a look at some of the stocks in the news on Wednesday and see what Jim Cramer's had to say about them.

-
APOL
Apollo Group - $55.76
- +0.23%
- $54.96
"Apollo? Suddenly they don't like it? I am wary of this stock going down hard, because those who believe in the secular growth of the online education segment will not stop here and be deterred by this contrary indicator to their thesis." ("New Is One Thing, and Trading Is Another," April 1)

-
T
At&t Inc. - $26.99
- -0.33%
- $26.49
Cramer was bullish on both AT&T and Verizon, based on their history of yearly dividend increases. "That's why I've been recommending those two stocks for literally the last two years," he said. ("Stop Trading!": AT&T's Too Cheap")

-
VZ
Verizon Commun - $31.63
- -1.25%
- $31.51

-
DHR
Danaher Cp - $71.17
- -1.13%
- $70.50
"Why not take Danaher (DHR) down here? There's no reason to be recommending that one. Its business is obviously slowing." ("Analysts Missed Their Downgrading Cue")

-
BP
Bp Plc - $58.11
- -1.87%
- $56.71
"I can see that Goldman Sachs, with a negative view of oil, would want to take BP (BP) off its list. Why not? Even though the company is going to replenish its oil reserves -- if you believe the company -- what's the point of recommending an oil company if you think that oil is going down appreciably?" ("Analysts Missed Their Downgrading Cue")

-
BA
Boeing Co - $52.45
- -0.91%
- $51.35
"Boeing (BA) been downgraded today, but I haven't understood why it was being recommended. Business is soft and the problems with the new plane haven't been solved." ("Analysts Missed Their Downgrading Cue")

-
FDX
Fedex Corp - $82.65
- -1.02%
- $81.29
"I just don't want to be selling FedEx (FDX) at $38 or Nucor (NUE) at $28, where I would expect them to be if March showed a huge degradation from the previous three months. I want to be buying them, and the analysts who downgraded them will most likely not be nimble enough to switch directions when the time comes." ("Analysts Missed Their Downgrading Cue")

-
NUE
Nucor Cp - $41.81
- -2.95%
- $41.69
