DESCRIPTION:

Date updated:08-13-2007

Here are some companies that are worth looking at right now. Either these companies are: 1) good, quality companies; or 2) companies that might be going through a rough-spell, but are in an industry with relatively little competition.

This list will be updated regularly, so as to stay "up-to-date"...

Side Note: Just because a company is listed here does not indicate that you should buy it! This list is simply an idea generator. To purchase any of these companies, one would need to still do a considerable amount of research to know if it's a good buy or not....

Also, if you can think of any other current "companies worth looking at", please e-mail me, and I'll add them in (as long as it fits the criteria)

  • HD
    Home Depot Inc
  • $28.08
  • +0.54%
  • $28.43

Reason: One of only two major players in that line of business, although I might like it a little more if it were a tad bit lower (below $35, maybe? $33 would be terrific...)

  • LOW
    Lowes Companies
  • $22.88
  • +1.78%
  • $22.76

Reason: Ironically, this is with whom HD competes. LOW is best-in-class. I don't know if you've noticed this, but they'll park themselves right next to a HD store and steal their business... Good, quality company... If you could purchase this at the right price (a level you'd have to decide on), this looks to be a good long-term holding.

  • UPS
    United Parcel Svc
  • $57.87
  • +0.52%
  • $58.29

Reason: As I've explained elsewhere, their cost-of-capital is incredibly low. When combined with their high margins and exposure to Asian growth, this appears to be a good long-term hold.

People owning UPS also tend to own: COPCOSTCSCOIACIMRVLNWSQCOM

  • CAT
    Caterpillar Inc
  • $58.30
  • +0.17%
  • $59.13

Reason: Good, quality company. I prefer it to DE, but that could just be me...

  • UL
    Unilever Plc Amer
  • $30.63
  • -0.20%
  • $30.91

Reason: Good slowdown play, if you need to add such a name to your portfolio. Yields 4.8%, which should give you a nice cushion if it were to fall a little.

People owning UL also tend to own: ADPBACBSXCCLCMCSACSCOERTS

  • BA
    Boeing Co
  • $54.68
  • +1.69%
  • $54.75

Reason: A company that might prove beneficial to have held throughout 2007. It's hard for analysts to guess how much BA is gonna make this year, what with Airbus pretty much out of the picture. I think that leaves a good bit of room for BA to beat estimates...

People owning BA also tend to own: AIGCCPWRDISFWLTGSHAL

  • AMAT
    Applied Materials
  • $13.32
  • +1.91%
  • $13.26

Reason: I actually got this idea first from Mr. Altucher. The more I've looked at it, the more appealing it's become. It's the 800-pound gorilla of its industry...

People owning AMAT also tend to own: AMTAMXBIDUFMCNKRYRACKSTP

  • +
  • MSFT
    Microsoft Corpora
  • $29.98
  • +0.50%
  • $30.04

Reason: Huge CF machine. People appear to be negative enough on it that - at some price - it could make you a little money.

People owning MSFT also tend to own: AAPLAMDCSCODELLGOOGIBMINTC
