Date updated:08-17-2007
Here are the companies whose stocks I own. Note that I have held many of these companies for a long time, which is only important because it may indicate that it is no longer a good buy. Ultimately, it is up to you to determine whether the risk/reward of the company makes it still beneficial to purchase.
I have also provided purchase dates for my most recent purchases. Anything without a purchase date means I purchased it years ago.
Note # 1: The time horizons on many of these companies is VERY LONG. Thus, if you are a trader, this list will probably prove absolutely useless to you.
Note # 2: A substantial portion of my capital is in various mutual funds, which are not included here
Note # 3: (8/08/07): In recent months, I have been adding to various mutual funds I own, as well as to several indexes (like the S&P, large and mid growth, etc...). However - in the coming months - I expect to begin several new positions. One will likely be a foreign (ex-U.S.) ETF. I am also thinking about a foreign bank, among several other companies. Finally, I own one other position that I haven't posted here yet. The only problem is that it's only traded on a foreign market, and thus I don't think I'll even be able to punch in the ticker. I'll give more details on this in upcoming weeks...
NEW NOTE (8/17/07): Although I own various mutual funds that give me good exposure to international growth, I might add several "Country ETF's" to my portfolio sometime soon. Regions that I desire to increase exposure to include the Middle East and Central Asia.... Instead of "Country ETF's", however, I might just purchase individual companies, as I noted above on 8/08/07.
Finally, something I have learned recently is the importance of not diversifying away your "strongest beliefs"/"major bets." Although I have been dead on with many of my calls, I don't think I've been able to best take advantage of my "strongest beliefs"/"major bets" b/c I've diversified too much. Thus, I will be cutting out various positions over time, freeing up that capital to make my "strongest beliefs" "count more." This is not to say I won't be appropriately diversified... I will. I simply will no longer be OVERdiversified...

SLB
Schlumberger Ltd - $65.13
- +1.13%
- $65.75
Purchased a long time ago Gains have left it hugely overweighted in my portfolio. I will trim this position when the company hits $100 billion market cap. Update (8/08/07): You don't even wanna know how big a position this is in my portfolio now (thanks to gains). Planning to take off 25% if/when it hits $99.

LOW
Lowes Companies - $21.25
- +1.48%
- $21.03
Purchased in 2 rounds: - July 12, 2006 - August 31, 2006 Thus, this one isn't far from my cost basis, and is a slightly above-average-size holding for me. Update (8/08/07): Still hasn't gotten to the level I've been waiting for before adding more. Please note that I am more than aware of the current housing woes (I've more than voiced my opinion on just how bearish I've been on housing for quite some time). I am merely taking a very long-term view on things with LOW, and I believe there are intangibles that aren't being taken into account... New Note (5/04): Don't be dissapointed by the stocks recent poor performance. Again, this is a good long-term holding. If it returns to the $27 range and below, I expect to buy more. I see this stock going much higher... again, I like LOW as a long term hold.. Price Target: $45-$55

-
BA
Boeing Co - $51.35
- +3.36%
- $50.01
Purchased a long time ago New Note (5/04): I continue to like the current situation, in regards to the risk/reward. My belief that there will be an eventual Fed cut makes this holding look even prettier, giving it just one more reason to move higher in the coming months. Note that I have continued to boost my target price since first purchasing this company... New Target Price: $110-$125

-
WFC
Wells Fargo & Co - $28.40
- +4.72%
- $27.50
Purchased a long time ago. I love this holding, by the way... I plan to hold this thing for a very, very long time...

-
GS
Goldman Sachs Grp - $176.57
- +2.79%
- $173.68
Purchased a long time ago. In truth, I am actually thinking about selling this within the next 1.5 years or so.

-
UPS
United Parcel Svc - $56.20
- +2.44%
- $55.10
Purchased 4 small rounds between July 28th and August 14th, 2006. In total, these small round equaled up to an average-size position for me. Like LOW, this one isn't far from my cost basis. Would only purchase more if it fell well below my cost basis. One of my lesser favorite holdings, although what I believe the long-term end value is - when compared to the downside risk - makes it a solid buy. Target Price: $90 -$105

-
SHLD
Sears Holdings Co - $70.51
- +4.23%
- $69.35
Purchased a long time ago. Despite it being very oversized in my portfolio (gains), I refuse to take gains, and will hold it for a very long while, just seeing how high Lampert can make this bad boy go... Update (8/08/07): Not worried about recent troubles. Again, I have a very long-term outlook on SHLD...

-
WHR
Whirlpool Cp - $73.54
- +3.84%
- $71.82
Purchased a long time ago New Note (5/4): I am beginning to think about selling this. This was never a major holding for me, and has really come a long way since I bought it when they merged w/ Maytag. Expect this to remain in my portfolio only a few more quarters... I definately don't see myself holding this beyond 2 more years... Update (8/08/07): Ended up selling half the position at around $106.
