Here is my strategy in a nutshell...
Generally like down and out stocks that I believe will come back within a year. However, I also buy fad stocks once in a while. Don't usually buy stocks on a quick trade, but I may do it once or twice a year, depending on if I have cash available or not.

Tend to shy away from stocks in which I do not understand the industry.
Check the portfolio out. Am I being too safe? In 2005, I had an 11% return, 2006 was only 1% return, and after five months in 2007, up approximately 10%. For more updated figures, look on the portfolio, I have tracking enabled so you can see for yourself.
Comments welcome. Especially about the NY Yankees! (Hence the screen name.)

CAT
Caterpillar Inc - $59.04
- +1.79%
- $58.02
Started building position Nov 2006. Was a down and out stock, but was hoping that interest rate cutes would propel this stock within six months. International business helping this stock until US picks back up.

IR
Ingersoll Rand Lt - $35.82

- $35.52
Similar story to CAT.

YHOO
Yahoo! Inc. - $15.30
- +0.39%
- $15.29
Bought on the way down $32, $30, $28. Sold half of position on 18% increase on day of announcement of possible merger. Will sit to see if any other merger talk comes up or will sell second half at around $32 unless circumstances change. Basically a flat line stock, not doing much for me.

AAPL
Apple Inc. - $204.19
- -0.12%
- $205.50
Gotta love Apple. I believe more people are buying Macs, IPods still dominate, and IPhone is coming up. Got in at $90, wished I had bought more when it dropped to the mid-80's when Steve Jobs was in trouble recently. Will reconsider stock after IPhone comes out, and hysteria forces AAPL up.

SNUS
Sonus Pharmaceuti - $0.00
- 0.00%
- $N/A
Speculative play. Needs FDA approval for drug as catalyst for this stock. Until then, good to buy at $4.80 - $5, and sell at $5.50, this stock goes back and forth between these two figures all the time...

Sold CVS as planned with a 2.3% gain. Will remove from portfolio due to sale. Now seeing which stock is next to add to portfolio in CVS' place.

5/7/07 Morning-- Bought CVS at 36.24. Let's see if the strategy works.

Varying from my usual strategy slightly. This appears to be a quick trade. CVS reports this week. I think the Caremark merger will help the stock when it reports. After-hours trading over the weekend has CVS up about 1.5%, so will set a limit order lower at $36.30.
After CVS reports, planning on selling. Could stay in, but I usually like beaten up stocks, and this is at 52-week high, however, P/E looks attractive right now. Still room for a few more anaylsts to upgrade when it reports.

Well, now that it looks like the merger isn't happening... will hold to see if any other merger talk comes. Otherwise, will just sit on YHOO. I built position on the way down, so considering selling if it hits $33 again. Otherwise, will just let it sit. This weekend considering where to put the YHOO proceeds.

Sold half YHOO position early Friday when up approx 18% (early in day.)
