Oregon-based company which designs and sells outdoor apparel, including outerwear, sportswear, and footwear. The stock has a P/E of 12.75, a PEG of 1.16, and a yield of 1.4%. Near its 52-week low seems nuts, With 3.5 dollars, cash per share and virtually no debt, the price multiples are around 11 times the past year's earnings. Current year cash flow for Columbia is at $4.5, and with approximate growth at 7 to 8% for future 10 years and perpetual growth at 5%,

TBL
Timberland Co A - $15.84
- -0.88%
- $15.51
Despite all of the problems this company has had (lowered guidance etc) the fact of the matter is that people tend to wear these shoes as the weather gets worse. At these current levels, I am not sure how much down-side there is to shares. Also, Nike which has unsuccessfully tried to enter the boot market may be interested in the company.

-
UA
Under Armour Inc - $29.12
- +7.81%
- $26.16
The 100% increase in inventory should be worked off as the weather gets colder. I was in DKS a few days ago and saw a lot of people buying UA products. has a P/E of 50.5, and a PEG of 1.86.

Our team executed well at the store level and took advantage of the cold weather opportunity", Also: "We were deliberate in our markdown strategy on winter-related merchandise, which produced a solid sell-through" This trend should continue as long as the weather stays cold.

Winter can wreak havoc on facial skin in particular. Cold, wind and overheated buildings suck the moisture from the air, drying the delicate tissue. Avon made the great move of buying Burt's Bees which has very high margins and gets even more popular during the winter months

deflation as occurring "when prices
are declining over time. This is the
opposite of inflation; when the
inflation rate (by some measure) is
negative, the economy is in a
deflationary period."
The article Why Does Money Have Value?
explains that inflation occurs when
money becomes relatively less valuable
than goods. Then deflation is simply the
opposite, that over time money is
becoming relatively more valuable than
the other goods in the economy.
