All the kids at daycare got the new DS and The Wii is bringing fun back to gaming. The so called "next-gen" systems offer simulation games that feel like work. Want more? I don't think it's an accident that they call the controller a "Wii-mote". I don't think they were just being creative when the decided to call the different menus "channels". I think they put waaay too much effort into the text entry for it's current limited uses. Start thinking Wii meets IP-TV and suddenly this cute little gaming system is my convergent set top box! They even included news and weather. They're experimenting to see what users will accept and use and what they won't. Of course, that's just my theory and remember I'm clueless.

These people have one focus. Moving power from where it's made to where it's used. Until we all have hydrogen power cells in our basements, these guys will continue to grow.

Housing market is in the toilet. Look around. What's being built? Hospital wings. Boomers are getting older and need medical care. Costs have to be controlled so more and more care will take place in the home. Who provides all the oxygen tubing and hospital beds and other supplies that home healthcare workers need on hand? Lincare does.

Ok, I admit this one's a gamble. Here's my rationale. If they heed the markets screams that they need to clean up their stores and offer some customer service (and that's the big if), with people upside down in their homes, they aren't going to be moving around so often anymore. They will continue to have families and need to expand and remodel. Home Depot and Lowes both could benefit from that trend over the next couple of years. Home Depot is experimenting with making up for lost new construction revenues with higher profit margin items like appliances and furniture in their new experimental stores. They promise to take what they learn from that and push it out into the other 2200 stores. The stock is pretty beaten down at the moment and the rest of the market is really volitile so its a good time to buy with an eye for late 2008 growth. Kind of a strange "safety play" don't you think?
