This portfolio assumes that the owner will be retiring in 10+ years.
Own consistent companies over extended periods of time while primarily focusing on preservation of capital and collecting the healthy dividends that the big boys pay out. There are a few lottery tickets in here (MWA & AKAM) which are out of place now but could be core holdings by 2020. Adding new positions and increasing old positions on weakness over time.

PCU
Southern Copper C - $34.74

- $34.51
Strong dividend and great growth in an industry that will remain hot for years to come.

-
GE
Gen Electric Co - $15.78
- -0.44%
- $15.95
Probably the most solid company around and they just upped their dividend. Added value with the recent expansion of their aerospace division.

-
C
Citigroup Inc - $4.18
- -0.24%
- $4.15
Not the best dividend or really even a decent stock over the past 5 years but over the long haul I like Citi with a few management changes. The company will eventually be broken up and that will add tremendous value to any owners.

-
WM
Waste Mgmt Inc - $32.62
- +0.40%
- $32.40
Great dividend - and growing! - from WaMu plus the stock trades in a very safe and predictable range. With that in mind this is a great stock to add to perhaps with your Christmas bonus or what have you. In the short-term a rate cut would be a huge boost for WM owners.

-
MO
Altria Group Inc - $19.07
- +1.06%
- $18.88
Pays a solid dividend and should add some great value once the company is broken up. The International branch has great growth potential and the US branch has been able to fend off the lawsuits fairly well so I feel very comfortable owning big MO for the next 10+ years.

-
VFC
V F Cp - $75.86
- 0.00%
- $N/A
Great brands that cater to probably 99% of US consumers. Best part of the company is that it is not a one-trick pony like say an SKS, COH or any of the 99c/$1 stores. At the same time you're not going to shoot the lights out by any stretch. The 2% yield helps to keep the position from really falling apart.

-
RTP
Rio Tinto Plc Ads - $206.18
- +0.71%
- $202.09
Demand for iron ore, copper and aluminum is not going to dissapear any time soon, especially with growth in China and India. In the next 10-20 years I think we'll see some great growth in Southern America and Russia that will keep demand strong. Another solid dividend that you just have to love.

-
CVX
Chevron Corp - $78.34
- +0.88%
- $77.41
Inevitably oil will run to $100/barrel before too long. That's not to say that CVX, XOM & Co. will be pocketing the extra $40 but it will add some more breathing room for these guys (not that they're on respirators now or anything). You have to own oil in any portfolio so we might as well scoop up an integrated player with a dividend.
