The Best and the Brightest.
"Like musicians interpreting smooth melodies, 11 investment luminaries blew their horns last week on a stage at New York's Jazz at Lincoln Center, scatting through stock picks and riffing on investment trends. The group generally favored undervalued large-cap technology and health-care stocks, U.S. and European equities over Asian shares, and a handful of energy names."

From Barron's 5-28-07 "Hedge-fund manager Steve Mandel, who worked at Tiger Management before founding Lone Pine Capital, said he recently established a position in the data-storage firm EMC (EMC). He likes the company's VMware subsidiary, which produces software to run servers more efficiently and replicate machines remotely. EMC is selling a 10% stake in VMware to the public. EMC could have 45% upside as VMware is better understood, Mandel says."

Despite a merger that yielded failed wells, new wells have better prospects and the stock is extremely undervalued, Einhorn says."
