RGN
Regenerx Biopharm - $1.73
- +0.01%
- $1.68
A promising little biotech a buddy put me on to. Had been trading b/t 1.60 and 1.80, and should pop back to those levels on positive news. Has been awarded patents, plus has three Phase II wound care trials, plus another one Phase II trial, a Phase I trial. Current Basis: N/A ----- POSITION CLOSED ----- 5/19/08: Took the last of the position off the table in the morning market-order spike. Booked a 17% gain in this one, so I'm stoked!! Will look to get back in, probably a little later in the year when the sector cools off a bit. Am also keeping a small spike-limit buy order in the event that somebody spikes the price down with a big market-order sale. ----- 4/17/08: I cut the position in half on the recent run from $0.80 to $1.40, so it's a much better size now. Getting a lot of pin action help off the biotech acquisitions of the last two weeks. ----- 1/8/08: Still a little heavy on this one, but the action's been ugly--down around a buck now. Would average down if I had more money. The story is intact; this one should spike on news about any of the trials. ----- 12/12/07: Still loving the story and the action. I'm a little heavy here right now, would like to see it pop to 1.40 to get some shares off my sheets. This is the kind of stock you have to have orders in place if you're going to get a fill on 'em. ----- 11/11/07: I love this company. I've been cycling in and out of this stock for about 3 months and have almost erased the 20% loss I took in SIX after 2Q07 earnings. I'm a buyer here, I think it's going back above 2.

GLS
Genesis Lease Lim - $3.85
- -6.78%
- $4.00
Huge yield makes it a nice place to park some cash. Good upside too. ----- 5/19/08: Stock went ex-div, and retreated a bit today. Want to buy more--let's see where it settles... ----- 4/17/08: Getting killed in this one, but belive the div is safe through 4Q. Looking to sell by then. Should have sold last month when it ran to the low 20s, but held off because of some commission considerations (my mistake). May average down--this has decent fundies, it's just getting beaten along with the rest of the credit-dependent financials. ----- 1/8/08: Still about 17.75, would average down again in the low 17's. Not terribly worried here--think we'll get a nice pop when the A380 and 787 start shipping. I'm content to take my 8.5% post-tax gain to sit on this one. ----- 12/17/07: Averaged down when GLS hit $17. New basis: 18.65 ----- 12/12/07: Been waiting to average down--want to see a couple of positions develop so I can clear them off, raise cash, and average down here. Floor looks to be $17, from the November downdraft. The lower the better--this one should pop on Boeing 787 news or upside for "financials". ----- 11/11/07: As bad as Friday (11/9) trading got, GLS didn't spend much time below 19.40. I think it's got div, it's got upside, it's got a stable business model. I'll clear out in the mid 20's, but I like it a lot here. In at 19.38.

CSCO
Cisco Systems - $17.32
- -2.64%
- $17.33
Too good a company to pass up at 29.75 ----- POSITION CLOSED ----- 12/18/07: Had to sell my CSCO at a small loss to average down in GLS. Should be more patient next time. Still love the long term story. Going to wait till tech hits the seasonal bottom mid next year to get back onboard. ----- 12/12/07: Still liking the story, would walk away at this point if it came back to 30-31 on strength. Comfortable holding, but the money may be better elsewhere. My CSCO may be sold to average GLS down when GLS's next ex date approaches. ----- 11/11/07: I'm being contrarian here. I like CSCO's long-term story here, and I am prepared to hold this position for several years. I think they're going to set up a dividend in the next year. I think the growth story is great. May get a chance to average down, but this will come back.

SIRI
Sirius Xm Radio I - $0.14
- +1.08%
- $0.141
Trade on the merger. Long the common at basis of about $3, long some Jun 6 calls at $.05. ----- 5/19/08: Shorted some Sep 3 calls (top-ticked it, too) last week, so got some nice income. Made something like 10% with another 14% gain if I get assigned on the options. Nice place to be in--definitely helps me sleep at night. ----- 4/17/08: Averaged down in the last while. May do it one more time. Like the upside, think I'm prolly going to lose the calls (again). My Jan calls expired worthless, don't think SIRI goes to 6 by June, but if the FCC rules very soon, the volatility may pick up a bit and make that position a small winner. ----- 1/8/08: OK, the calls are killing me. Trying to get out at .10, may have to jump at .05. Don't see the merger going through this month, so it's time to roll out (prolly a little past time, but this is my first option position). The common is crucifying me as well here, down 20% from where I bought it. Would love to have more cash to average down (more to let me get out earlier on the way up than to juice the return) ----- 12/12/07: I finally broke down and did it the other day. Bought it in the downdraft after that analyst note. Bought some Jan calls early today. Would have liked to have gotten in on the $.10 price I saw about 4pm. *THAT* would have been a nice Christmas present... 8)
