I like to buy calls and puts and then keep a few long positions on the books.
I have a 6 month time perspective for most of my positions. On occassion I will trade around positions or buy short term calls andputs if I see an opportunity.

CAT
Caterpillar Inc - $64.07
- +0.20%
- $63.79
It has now established itself as an international company that isn't soley linked to the US housing market. People are finally realizing this is a global story and the global infrastructure and mining markets are booming. The company has reported two lackluster quarters the past two, the first on a supply problem and the other they attributed to a horrible US economy. I think there is some short term weakness that needs to play out and the stock could touch the low 60's. That said, I'm long this stock with up to a year time frame. I'll stick with CAT. I have 3/4 of my position on and will add if we dip to 65.

MO
Altria Group Inc - $20.95
- +1.40%
- $20.74
The split of international can't be too far away. The litigation environment looks good and the key class action suit has been denied. This stock is currently well positioned as investors flee for safety. The split is forthcoming and I'm sure there will be a massive buy back. I cut some of my position into recent strength. If it touches back to 70 I'll pick some more up. I think this runs to 80 into the split up.

RTN
Raytheon Co (new) - $59.71
- +2.07%
- $58.34
I bought some February 65 calls in this stock. I like it because it is literally defensive in nature and is defensive against a stuggling economy. The calls are in the red as of right now but I think they'll rebound especially if we get a bounce back here in the short term.

-
CHK
Chesapeake Energy - $44.34
- -0.72%
- $44.87
I still believe in this company and still love the management. natural Gas is pulling back right now, although long term the fundamentals and lack of capacity say that Nat Gas will be in bull mode for a while. I think this stock sees 40 by EOY. Update: I trimmed some shares as it has touched 40 and pulled back. I'm looking to add into this recent weakness. The CEO is buying more shares and the company has laid out it's plan to pay down the large debt they have accumulated from purchasing lease shares.

RUTH
Ruth's Hospitalit - $4.53
- -0.88%
- $4.54
Comp sales revision to the low side and rising commodity costs (corn, milk, cheese etc.) have caused this thing to tank. I would sell all my positions and move on but it's too late for that. I do believe that this company is on the right track overall and their growth strategy and managment is really pretty good. They face easy comparisons this year and should beat at earnings time. That said, what a house of pain!!!!

RNIN
Wireless Ronin Te - $3.85
- -0.77%
- $3.89
Digital advertising is a growing market trend and its boundries are limitless as to which market segements it can penetrate. I think part of the growing pains some of these companies that sell digital hardware and the software that manages content is that they are too spread out and aren't focused enough in one particular market segment. RNIN is a small cap name that IMO has the best wireless solution for managing digital advertising content. When you think digitial advertising, think point of purchase kiosks; in store signage, high traffic area signage etc.. RNIN has made headway in the casino space in managing all the progressive jackpot signage and general casino game advertisements. They have a big deal with Sealy matresses and do point of purchase dislays that are interactive and collect shopper information. They also have a major deal with Reuters. And in what I think could be the biggest opportunity, they are making headway in the restaurant menu board arena. Think all those old menu boards in all the fast food restaurants that are perfect candidates for a digital solution that can take advantage of all the eyes and advertise menu specials and promotional events. RNIN is working with some KFC franchises and Wendy's. If any of the major players, MCD, YUM etc. decide to adopt the wireless digital solution across the board for all restaurants that is a huge opportunity for RNIN. The best part of the RNIN solution is that the customer can centrally manage all the content on these advertisements wirelessly. Or, RNIN has a tech hub where they will actually host the entire solution and manage content for the customer. Keep this stock in mind. Digital advertising is growing and RNIN is in perfect position to capitalize. Outside of menu boards, just think of all the other opportunities for in store advertising. That said, they have no control over their sales cycles and when they can report revenue. They have quit giving revenue guidance until they get a better handle. I think high level, long term this is still an exciting company but the stock has been hammered to almost nothing. I'm sticking with it though.

VCLK
Valueclick Inc - $11.51
- -6.73%
- $12.25
I have some March 20 and 25 calls. I like this as a take over play. I need not tell everyone what a growth story internet advertising is and this company is a valuable property for a Yahoo, Google or Microsoft.

-
FTI
Fmc Technologies - $48.88
- +0.95%
- $48.12
I have some January 55 and 60 calls. The stock has come down off it's high and in hind sight I probably get involved too late with this stock. But, I think Oil will recover and this Oil Technology company is in prime position to take advantage of increased drilling activitiy. I hope this spikes back toward 60's so I can salvage these calls.
