Barron's interviewed Art Samberg, Chairman and CEO, Pequot Capital Management, Meryl Witmer, General partner, Eagle Capital Partners, Mario Gabelli, Chairman, Gamco Investors Inc. and Fred Hickey, Editor, The High-Tech Strategist as part Barron's annual Roundtable. This portfolio is made of stocks the pro's currently like or dislike.

-
UPL
Ultra Petroleum C - $46.01
- -1.86%
- $46.98
Barron's: Art, you had some huge winners last year -- like Monsanto, up 118%. What do you like now? Samberg: Ultra Petroleum, a gas exploration and production company with some of the best exploration assets in North America. They have about 2.4 trillion cubic feet of proven reserves and another 4.4 trillion of unproven-but-probable reserves. Production will grow 20% a year over the next three years.

-
WFR
Memc Electronic M - $13.07
- +2.67%
- $12.77
Barron's: What is your next idea? Samberg: MEMC Electronic Materials makes polysilicon wafers. Unlike Ultra, it has been a good stock in the past two years. In 2008, for the first time ever, the amount of polysilicon shipped to the solar industry will exceed that used in the semiconductor business.

-
FMCN
Focus Media Holdi - $12.97
- +1.81%
- $13.04
Barron's: How competitive is the market? Samberg: It's not that competitive; it's location, location, location. Focus Media has an 80% market share. It has been diversifying into wireless and Internet advertising. It also is the leader in program guides. China has about a $13 billion ad market, versus a $155 billion market in the U.S. But 21 cents of every new advertising dollar is going to China, versus 20 cents to the U.S. As for valuation, there are 128 million shares outstanding. The stock trades in the mid-50s. The Street is at $1.42 a share for '07 earnings and $2 a share for '08. We think the company could do $2.50 this year and $3.25 in 2009. It is growing by 30% a year.

-
QCOM
Qualcomm Incorpor - $45.77
- +2.05%
- $45.28
Samberg: If you assume Nokia and Qualcomm reach an accord, at some point Qualcomm could have $3 a share of earnings power. In the fiscal year ended September, the company earned $2.01 pro forma. Street estimates are $2.10 for '08 and $2.38 for '09. Qualcomm could earn $3 a share in '09 if it gets a 2.5% royalty-rate settlement. The stock trades for about 13 times earnings.

-
AMX
America Movil - $48.22
- +0.25%
- $48.14
Samberg: América Móvil, the Mexican wireless company controlled by Carlos Slim, is a backdoor way to play Brazil. ARPUs [average revenues per user] in Brazil were weak last year because competitors tried to gain market share. In the latest quarter or two, competition eased and minutes of use have boomed. The company has made a big América Móvil earned about $3 a share last year. It will earn $3.85 this year and $4.80 next year. The American depositary receipts are trading for about 58, or 15 times '08 earnings and 12 times '09 estimates.

-
GFA
Gafisa Sa Adr - $33.75
- +2.21%
- $32.72
Samberg: The mortgage market in Brazil started two years ago. Last year, there were about 20 initial public offerings of builders' shares, and the market got confused. Also, investors didn't want to look at anything housing-related. The new stocks did poorly and a lot of IPOs got called off. But the value of properties in Brazil increased more last year than in all prior years. As a result, Brascan and Gafisa are dirt-cheap.

-
AEM
Agnico Eagle Mine - $60.60
- +1.54%
- $59.76
Hickey: like Agnico-Eagle Mines, which has five new mines coming online in the next two years. They pay a small dividend every year. The company operates a very profitable mine in Québec, a safe place politically.

-
GLD
Spdr Gold Shares - $109.74
- +1.41%
- $108.32
Hickey: The great gold bull market is now entering its eighth year. Last year was the best yet. The price of gold jumped 30%, as central banks printed money to stave off recession. This year, gold could soar well above $1,000. The most exciting phase of the gold market is ahead. Gold still is cheap.
