Greenlight Capital sent a letter to MI Developments again expressing concern about the company's investment in Magna Entertainment (MECA). Greenlight said that MI has elected to extend the maturity of the bridge loan to Magna, plus an additional $19.5 million of financing. In August, Greenlight said that MI Developments shouldn't compound its risk by continuing to fund Magna or extending the maturity of an existing $267 million debt investment in Magna, a Canadian operator of horse racetracks. Greenlight holds 5,387,535 shares (11.7% of the total outstanding).

Obrem Capital Management wants MDS to consider selling parts of the company, and said it would be inappropriate for MDS to ignore prospective bids, given what it views as the sizable gap between MDS' share price and its assets' fair value. Obrem said that it probably would be difficult to sell all of MDS to a single buyer because its assets don't belong together. It suggested the sale of pieces of MDS to several buyers. Obrem holds 7,804,800 shares (6.5%).

Fosun Industrial raised its holdings to about 8.66 million shares (6.4%) from 7.26 million (5.37%). Fosun previously said that it might communicate with other Tongjitang Chinese Medicines stockholders, managers and directors about the company's operations and strategies, with the aim of enhancing shareholder value.

Carl Icahn and his affiliates sold 8.5 million shares of Lear (LEA) stock at $1.90 a share, slashing his stake to 4.95% (3.38 million shares) from nearly 16%. In addition, Icahn's representative on Lear's board, Vincent Intrieri, resigned. In a letter, he said that his decision isn't due to any disagreement with the company. However, Intrieri expressed regret that the merger proposed by Icahn last year wasn't approved by Lear's shareholders.
