A group including Elliott Associates is prepared to offer to acquire all of Endologix's outstanding stock for $2.25 a share. Elliott said that it thinks highly of the company and John McDermott, its new chief executive. Endologix designs and markets minimally invasive products to treat vascular problems. The private-equity firm said that it wants to grow the company "into the successful business we believe it should be." The Elliott group holds 6,332,665 shares (14.5% of the total outstanding).

Hedge-fund Harbinger Capital Partners said that it expects to talk with Leap Wireless executives about how to maximize shareholder value. In December, Harbinger and its affiliates reported holding a passive stake in the San Diego-based provider of wireless-communications services. Harbinger's chief, Philip Falconne, controls 10.23 million Leap shares (14.8%).

The New World Opportunity Partners I fund is considering pursuing talks with the online gambling company about possible transactions, including a direct-equity investment or buying Youbet.com outright. New World, an investment firm controlled by Youbet.com CEO Michael Brodsky, said that it might also offer to extend credit to the company in the form of a new loan or debt facility. New World owns about 5.3 million shares (12.8%).

Fine Capital Partners reported ownership of 1,569,206 shares (5.6%), after buying 531,200 from Aug. 14 to Oct. 10 at prices that ranged from $24.12 to $33.69. Coinstar operates machines that let consumers exchange coins for bills.

California Capital said that it holds 4,650,000 shares (9.7%) of the real-estate investment trust, bought from Sept. 29 to Oct. 7 at prices ranging from $5.81 to $6.23.

Private-equity outfit Ramius reported owning 1,689,039 shares (6.6%) of the chip maker, bought from Sept. 3 to Oct. 10 at $10.06 to $14.00 per share.

A group of funds. including money manager Mario Gabelli's Gamco Investors. raised its position in the automated teller-machine maker to about 4.99 million shares (7.54%) from the 4.71 million (7.15%) it had reported owning in April.

A group including SPO Advisory boosted its holdings in the energy provider to 80,047,061 shares (18.9%) from the 75,384,261 (17.8%) disclosed on Oct. 6.
