Each week Barron's has a 13D Filings column. 13Ds are filed when a fund (usually an activist hedge fund) accumulates more than 5% of a firm and is planning on pushing for change (e.g.a sale of the company, sale of certain assets, a share buyback, or a share dividend) to unlock value.

In a letter, Zachary McAdoo, a portfolio manager of an entity affiliated with Zannett Opportunity Fund, urged MathStar Chairman Douglas Pihl and the board to liquidate MathStar, rather than acquire another company. MathStar has said it is looking for a merger, but has rejected merger proposals from PureChoice. The Zanett group holds 506,758 shares (5.52% of the total outstanding).
