This is a portfolio I created on my blog about a year ago. After a reader asked me a follow up question recently I dusted it off and wrote an article for RealMoney that should be out shortly.
You can click through to my blog or the article to see the weightings of each holding. Remember this was simply an exploration of a concept not something I actually implemented for clients. The funds chosen are not the most popular but I wanted to draw in most of the ETF providers

-
RWR
Spdr Dow Jones Re - $53.60
- -1.07%
- $54.23
I believe in maintaining REIT exposure and at the time RWR had not drawn much attention.

-
ETF
Emerging Markets - $16.62
- -0.60%
- $16.74
The telecom sector is a great place to add emerging market exposure because just about every country has a big phone company.

-
XLI
Select Sector Spd - $30.81
- -0.39%
- $31.09
Straight forward, plain vanilla Industrial sector exposure.

-
IYT
Ishares Trust Ish - $79.36
- -0.94%
- $80.22
The Trannies are an important part of the industrial sector, a way to add volatility within.

-
ITA
Ishares Ishares D - $57.46
- +0.58%
- $57.13
I use defense stocks in every portfolio, as opposed to the ETF, to ahve a chance of having something go up if there is ever a terror attack again. I should note that some clients do own the ETF.

-
IYK
Ishares Dow Jones - $59.28
- -0.20%
- $59.67
Straight forward, plain vanilla consumer exposure. Some clients own this one.

-
IHI
Ishares Ishares D - $57.67
- -0.74%
- $58.34
Devices seems to be a good way to add outperformance in the healthcare sector.

-
EWA
Ishares Trust (ba - $23.75
- -0.96%
- $24.07
I view Australia as a must own, although I do prefer an individual stock.
