I love the game...and the game to me is individual stocks...I am a focused value
fundie girl and mutual funds go against my beliefs...plus my feelings about
mutual funds are the ones shared by John Boogle (and maybe???? Jim in his
upcoming book) where many should be avoid....but that's just me.

Individual stocks, although I still put money into Vanguard's S&P 500 fund every
month.

Individual stocks absolutely. Pick solid sectors and best of breed -- keep it
simple.

Personally....I believe in individual stocks but it takes dedication... I like
some funds, I like Janus....but I think it all depends on what your objective
is... I heard them mention on cnbc this morn. that individual investers where
the ones who stayed calm and the institutional investers were the most emotional
ones through these last few weeks..and thats what added to volatiliy. If you are
able to stay focused and do your research and KNOW why, how long, your entrance
and exit strategies then... I guess it just depends on how much control and
responsibility you want and how well you understand your investments. It
depends on the person/not the market...in my opinion.
