New Question: Just looking for some 2nd opinions on PEP. Recently the weak USD
has benefited them with their int'l sales but the commodity costs have hurt
them. Now, the lower commodity prices will be benefiting them but I'm worried
about the stronger dollar offsetting those lower commodity/input costs. PEP
doesn't have as much int'l exposure as KO so I don't see them being as effected
but always curious to see what others are thinking or have to say. Thanks... -

I bought Auy, Yamana Gold when it was up at 16 dollars a share hoping it would
continue to go up but I lost big on it when it dropped less than 10 dollars a
share. I am willing to wait it out for the long run. Should I hold on or sell
and accept the losses? -

My buddy went out and bought some Freddie Mac a couple of weeks ago. Was I
wrong or right when I told him to sell it? He thinks the stock will be OK if the
gov. steps in. I told him the common was gonna get washed out to nothing. Which
way is it gonna go? -

A: if the govt "steps in", that is, if it socializes/buys FRE, then the
shareholders get nothing, and the stock goes to zero. If the govt does not socialize FRE,
the stock has a slight chance to recover, never quite reaching all the way down to zero. more - Post your own answer

Barrons did an article on symbol CTSH which is an IT outsourcer calling the
stock a bargain. I am wondering if in the next few years if outsourcing will be
down played....
I mean we do have so many people out of jobs. One company I know had laid of
over 1500 US jobs and sent those jobs outsourced to the Philippines ...
So Barrons says CTSH Cognizant is a bargain but is it a bargain or a stock that
is loosing ground in a changing economy? -

A: yep all the charts say SELL, so why is the Barrons article saying it is under valued? Is
it down because there is no value or is there more outsourcing coming that would make this
stock seem valuable? more - Post your own answer

A: socialized GSEs---it's been widely expected for several weeks now. So we could see a
"sell the rumor/buy the fact" inflection when it actually happens. But other
financial stocks, less likely to be bought out/socialized by the govt are much less likely
to go all the way down to zero. more - Post your own answer

I am watching Discovery Planet and Drill Drill Drill may be the answer for us

I dont mean to be all hippy here but CNBC only looks at the business and how
much money can be made. Not what the future outlook is. Denying global warming
is happening is bs. -

A: last time for me too, but you're right about the cycles, no one disputes that. however, if
you put a chart of co2 release thats caused by mankind in the last 100 years, up against
the global warming thats going on, the lines are parallel and rising. the science is broad
and valid on this. again scientific (not political spin) wisdom is overwhelmingly in favor
of mankind and specifically fossil fuels being the source. mike more - Post your own answer

New Question: Congressman confirms gov't intervention for mortgage firms
MarketWatch, Saturday, September 06, 2008 at 2:45 PM
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) Rep. Barney Frank (D., Mass.) confirmed Saturday
that Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson is planning government intervention to
back troubled mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The chairman of the
House Financial Services Committee said in a statement Saturday that Paulson
"intends to use the powers that Congress provided it" in a law passed in July to
keep Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac stable and functioning, according to a report
from the Wall Street Journal. -

Hello Folks, so far the advice I have received on Stockpickrs has really helped
me to learn this whacko market and react accordingly. Sooo....in lieu of that
aid, here's another question. My mother has recently entrusted me with a small
wad of dough that she would like me to invest. As I intend to be a bit more
cautious with the portfolio I select for her (than my own), I am thinking that
I'd like to play some high dividend stocks. My questions are these.
1) Anyone have any good high divvy stocks they can recommend (presently looking
at GU, DSX, BAC and the like)?
2) Is there a site you can direct me to which shows when the last possible
buy-in date is to collect a dividend on any given stcok?
Thanks all, for your valuable insights.
