Blyth (BTH) plans to submit an offer to buy all or substantially all of RedEnvelope's assets in accordance with procedures established by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. In mid-April, RedEnvelope filed a voluntary petition under Chapter 11, soon after announcing it didn't have sufficient funds to continue as a going concern. In early May, the court approved a structure for interested parties to make offers to buy the assets of RedEnvelope, which sells items like jewelry, spa products and toys through its Website. A company trying to sell assets while in Chapter 11 must conduct an auction, to the best price. Blyth currently holds 1,354,000 shares (14.6%).
