VMware Closes Under $40 For First Time Ever	Investors continued to shed VMware (VMW) shares today in the wake of yesterday’s firing of CEO Diane Greene and a reduction in the company’s 2008 outlook. Price/Volume Spike: VMware (VMW, EMC)	VMware Inc. (NYSE: VMW) is being beaten like a rented mule in pre-market trading this morning. The virtualization company announced that Diane Greene is out as CEO effective immediately, and its guidance is being taken as an earnings warning. Symantec Buys Online Backup Service SwapDrive For $123 Million	Online storage is back. Last September, EMC bought online storage startup Mozy for $76 million. Last week, Symantec signed a deal brewing since February to buy SwapDrive. A source close to the company says that Symantec paid $123 million. According to my source, the company made $13 million in profits last year, on revenues of $22 million. VMware Falls 6% As UBS Says 22% of Float May Trade	Shares of $24 billion (market cap) software maker VMware (VMW) are down over 6%, or $4.50, at $63.50 this morning, as UBS Securities analyst Heather Bellini notes in a report this morning that with an expiration period for lock-up happening this week, an additional 11 million shares of the stock may trade, which would be about 22% of the float, she notes.
