Micron FY Q3 Loss Slightly Worse Than Street Ests	Micron Technology (MU) this afternoon reported revenue for its fiscal third quarter ended May 29 of $1.5 billion, slightly better than the Street consensus of $1.47 billion. The company lost 30 cents a share in the quarter, two cents worse than the Street had forecast. Micron had a gross margin in the quarter of 3.2%, which is better than the negative gross margin reported in the February quarter, but down from 8.2% a year earlier. Smart Modular: FY Q3 Revs Top Guidance; Margins Weak	Smart Modular (SMOD) shares are getting slammed this morning on disappointment over the company’s results for its fiscal third quarter ended May 30. Revenue in the quarter totaled $167.6 million, ahead of the company’s most recent guidance of $150 million to $155 million. Pro forma profits nonetheless came in at 5 cents a share, at the bottom end of the company’s projected range of 5-7 cents, raising concerns on margins. SIA Cuts 2008 Chip Sales Forecast On Weak DRAM Prices	The Semiconductor Industry Association today cut its forecast for 2008 worldwide chip sales growth to 4.3% from 7.7%, citing ongoing weakness in memory chip pricing. Sales ex-memory products are expected to grow 7.4%. SIA projects 6.1% compound annual growth through 2011, with growth of 6.2% in 2009 and 8.4% in 2010. Micron: Lehman Ups Target, Estimates; But Stays Neutral	Lehman’s Tim Luke this morning raised his price target on Micron Technology (MU) to $9 from $8 and raised his EPS estimates for the company, asserting that “firmed recent pricing trends in DRAM and NAND, along with cost savings, may help reduce expected loss levels.” He notes that since early April DRAM contract prices are up about 13%, while NAND prices are up 16%. STEC Spikes After Analyst Mtg; Needham Ups Ests, Target	Quite a nice day for shares of STEC, which makes DRAM memory systems, including solid-state drives. The company yesterday held a meeting with analysts in San Francisco, who apparently like what they heard.
