Generic Drug Manufacturers

Description:

Today (5/14/2007) Mylan Laboratories, a US based generic drug manufacturer, bought the German generic drug division of Merck (a totally different company from the big pharma giant Merck (MRK)), beating out Teva Pharmaceuticals (TEVA), an Israeli generic drug manufacturer. Sandoz, the generic drug unit of Novartis (NVS), was another bidder.

What's the best play? Mylan? Teva? Merck? some other generic manufacturer? or avoid all of them? An interesting speculative stock is Dr. Reddy's Labs (RDY), an Indian company that produces low cost knock off drugs cheaply.
