Barron's: Tech Giants

Description:

From Barron's 3-5-07

"Companies like Cisco (CSCO), Hewlett-Packard (HPQ), Microsoft (MSFT) and Apple (AAPL) have attained enough girth and consistency to be favorably compared with cyclical stocks from more mature corners of the economy. They may now offer the predictability and stability investors expect from traditional large-cap industrials."

"Large-cap tech simply isn't as sexy as it used to be; but slow-and-steady growth, aided by consumer sales, can be beautiful. "I'm not going to say that this is the year of the large-cap tech companies, but it is no longer just about the mid-sized or smaller tech companies," says Goldman Sachs hardware analyst and research strategist Laura Conigliaro."

Barron's caught up with Conigliaro and her current and former colleagues at the firm's annual technology conference in Las Vegas last week. The following is some of her favorite picks and her reasons why.
