In Barron’s mid-year 2007 Roundtable, published in the magazine's June 18th issue, Schafer offers his take on the market and his top picks:
"The stock market is not going to do all that much the rest of the year, despite all the talking heads gabbing about new highs. The major averages are up less than 10%. As for the economy, one of the three bears is going to get Goldilocks one of these days. Interest rates are going up, but they're rising due to demand for money, not inflation. That means earnings will be OK, and so should the stock market. But if the Goldilocks economy -- not too hot, not to cold -- is challenged, the stock market will have a problem."
