Oops, sorry. I was attempting a search to see whether anyone had discussed
Cramer's assessment from less than two weeks ago (?). He said that, if the
bailout did NOT pass, we "could conceivably" hit DOW 8500. But that was a
doomsday scenario, in which the bailout (beg pardon, "rescue") bill failed.
I do my best to mind my tongue, but holy moly, my supply of swear words has been
depleted by this market, and today in particular. -

- Q:
Okay, so the bill passed and the market logged a roughly 275 point decline in
the process (which will, of course, bounce and may turn around. Or not.).
The question that makes me ask is -not- "gee whiz, what would have happened if
the bill was shot down," but rather, "if it was going to be a 'sell on positive
news,' then who was speculating up to DOW 10,800+, and why?"
If I can understand that, then I will have learned something useful. -

A: Everything jumped around noon on rumors of the European banks getting a bailout package
from the Euro Fed. I agree with the previous guy. Sell it into strength. more - Post your own answer
- Q:
Way to go, Nancy Pelosi. It was abundantly clear to everyone that this HAD to
be a bipartisan effort. Instead of government doing its job for ONCE,
everybody's looking for an exposed back to stab.

A: Pelosi uses the word 'bi-partisan' so much it's starting to get annoying...like 5 times in
the same press conference. That woman never saw a camera she didn't like, that's why she's
speaker. She's so self-righeous about being bi-partisan, when in fact, she's anything but
bi-partisan. She's only bi-partisan when she gets her way. That's what she calls
bi-partisan...her winning. more - Post your own answer
- Q:
PM (Philip Morris Int'l) is down almost 5% today. Does this have more to do
with the overall market beating, or would you attribute it to the Rothman
purchase?
PM announced today that ~ 47,004,961 shares representing ~ 67.8% of the
outstanding common shares of Rothmans Inc. on a fully-diluted basis have been
tendered to the offer made by PMI. -

With today's 20% hit, Chipotle (CMG) has a PEG of 1.0. They claimed, of course,
a weaker economy and higher input costs - they said they'd probably have to
raise prices in Q4. I still have to wait in line everytime I go. Is anyone
else interested here in the high 50s? -

A: Would not buy CMG here. CMG has been in a downtrend since January. Wait until CMG makes
a base or at least stops going down. CMG has a lot of negative momentum. Stay out of the
way until it changes direction. more - Post your own answer

Beach Bunny Ent posted this 25 days ago and got no response. I had the
identical question today, so I'm just going to copy BBE's text:
HOLX - Hologic
Anyone else using an online brokerage being told that these trades have to go
through a broker and orders can't be placed online? Got a generic "Orders for
this security cannot be accepted online at this time." Called in and after a
lot of insisting that there MUST be a reason for it, I got "um, well, there
might be a reorg that hasn't been fully disclosed" and I'm not even sure that
is
the real reason.
Anyone else have any insight or having the same issues trying to place an order
for it? -

A: BBE here - I didn't buy any!
It wasn't that they wouldn't let you trade it, just that you had to go through one of the
brokers and couldn't place the orders online.
I took it as a huge red flag and passed on it, but I thought it was rather strange. more - Post your own answer
