New Question: Anyone know of any news on PowerOne (PWER). It is a small stock
that trades around $10-$11 per share. It was up 3-4% early this morning on
strong volume then abount 2:45pm EST it dropped like a rock to finish down 5%.
From it daily high at 2:00pm to the close the stock dropped 10% to $10.74. I
have not been able to find any news. Has anyone else found anything?
The only thing I can think of is a drop in oil as one area of their business is
solar power converters. -

- Q:
Anyone have a suggestion for a good stock charting service? I have tried/used
several but
marks made on charts are not retained from one visit to another which requires
me to
redraw every time a pull up the chart again. Thats no good.
On note the charts must be accessable from a Mac OS.
I have an account with Schwab and those charts are very poor. I also have an
account with
optionsxpress. The charts are better but a gain markings are not retained from
one visit
to the next. I have also used stockcharts.com and paid for the service for
several months.
However, I have found the site not to be use friendly. I could not easily
change
timeframes on the charts.
What do others use?

Did I misss something with Veeco Instruments (VECO)? The reported a great
quarter and raised guidance, beyond wall street forecasts the other day. The
stock climbed to $54.50 and since has been plummeting. Then this morning on a
big market up day this is down $.2.50 more than 5%. to $46.70.
All analyst I saw raised estimates and target prices to the $68-$72 range. I
have looked but have found no negative news on VECO.

Anyone who heard the CSX call please reply as I was not able to:
I had read increased volume is attributable to increased volume in steel and
fertilizer, with some sense of increase in coal volume later in the quarter.
Can someone please verify this.
I ask as fertilizer stocks are getting hit hard today. I know investors are
looking for signs of an up tick.

- Q:
The other day I read Jim Cramers explanation of buying calls and shorting stock
in his book Getting Back to Even. I understand the concept, but he stated the
calls are purchased in the first account and the stock is shorted in a second
account. Why would the shorted stock need to be in a second account? Why
wouldn't the shorted stock be in the same account as the long calls?

A: I don't think he means separate brokerage accounts. When you account for your assets, each
asset would would be placed in a different account. That is to say, you would have one
"account" for cash, one for receivables from John, one for Google stock, one for
Ford puts, and so on. Your brokerage's assets consist of each person's
"account," and I think therein lies the confusion. Cramer means account in terms
of YOUR assets, not the brokerage's. more - Post your own answer

What's taking place at near the end of the market the last 1-2 weeks. The market
seems to completely fall apart at the end of the day where were in that spot
near the end of last year where the final 30 minutes is all that matters. Now
the market goes down in the morning, fights back then completely unravels the
final 30 minutes of trading. Seems some kind of manipulation to me. I know
short term tradingis what's in these days. -
