A: I wish George Orwell was alive to see what Sir Rupert is doing! When you step back and
look at the media in the world today...to say it is reminiscent of Orwell or Orwellian is
a gross understatement.

A: My personal opinion on GS is that you had the opportunity of the year the last time this
thing broke 165. I was in there buying and haven't look back since. My price target has
been 197 and then sell ever since the last report. Lately, it has worked out pretty darn
well. I would still stick by this until they report again. It will probably take some
really bad news to get this guy under 180 again but if you can, back up the truck but
understand the days of huge volatility and gaps in either direction are probably over in
this stock for quite some time now.

A: i still think this works maybe with a little less volatility. (probably smaller rips and
dips) wish i could figure out if you could mirror the vix as to how big a spread the rips

A: BKX bank index looks terrible, XLF does too. I prefer to short small and mid-cap
financials that are sick, particularly regional banks (especially vulnerable because the
borrowing window of the Fed is not open to them; and another bank certainly is not going
to lend to them, not when 'death of competition' is the capitalsim-shoutout for
money-center banks). These financials have no where to go but down: BBT, RF, FITB, MTB,
MI, ZION, WTNY, UBSI, FMBI, FRME. And one of these has default in their future, just hurry
them on their way to their grave: NCC, HBAN, FHN, CNB, PCBI, RCBK, CAPB, STBK, CORS. I
still think Legg Mason (LM) is the next Bear Stearns. WM collapsed again. Everyone should
have a well-rounded short portfolio, instead of looking at the stars, look at that awful
sinkhole. Call it your "Hoping for a Bank Default" portfolio.
When the big boys like BAC, JPM, C, UBS, WFC, STI, WB, LEH, MER, MS look like trouble
(like they do now) - go ahead and attack the bid on their smaller brethren, watch them
fold up like a cheap chair. Remember to attack the weak and helpless, do it ruthlessly. more - Post your own answer
