mil?

I don't know if any of you checked out the TSCM conf call, but this new CEO is
impressing me. It seems like his main goal is to establish TheStreet.com as a
brand rather than focus around Cramer. I'm glad, I've been preaching that for
years now. He also talked about making more content per ad so as not to piss off
TheStreet's audience. Ad revs are up, subs are up, TSCM is looking more and more
like a buy behind this fella. -

Do you guys know of any type of website where a company's revenue and earnings
are broken down by how much is made in each department. Such as how much of
Valero's rev and profits come from retail versus their refining? I know I could
always sift through conference calls and piece it together that way, but it
would seem rally useful to have it out in the open. -

- Q:
When a company buys back its own stock do the shares just . . . disappear? I
mean are the shares outstanding reduced or is it just the float? In other words
are there actually less shares than before or is there just a short term spike
in demand? -

A: If a company retires some of the shares it is a big positive in decreasing the float. Even
if they don't retire the shares, buying in big blocks and selling in small lots will
support the stock price and help to put in a floor. Very positive. more - Post your own answer

Does anyone else think that maybe GE shouldn't be so hasty in selling off NBCU?
I mean, it does seem prudent to sell off a good portion to shore up some cash.
But also, a media company like NBCU just spits out cash like nothing, which is
extremely valuable for a big conglomerate.
I liked the initial GE-Comcast deal, with GE still retaining 49%, but one they
want an option to keep selling it off over time. Personally I wish they
wouldn't. What are your thoughts on it? -

A: not really. it will put more emphasis on the larger growth segments of their portfolio,
and regardless of if its warranted or not, NBC has just been trouble for them in terms of
image. more - Post your own answer

When a company spins out one of its assets in to an IPO, what amount of

So I've been hearing a lot about GE possibly selling its 80 percent stake in
NBCUniversal. Now why in the hell would they do that? And how much truth is
there to these rumors? -

A: I have no idea if it's true or not, I've heard nothing. But I think it would make perfect
sense. Immelt has broken down much of what Jack Walsh built, and he's helped to tarnish
the GE brand through what is thought to be a liberal news arm, NBC. So much so that it
will likely take years after a distancing from NBC to repair it—if it will ever be
repaired at all. You don't want politics too entrenched in your business because customers
may make purchasing decisions based on them. Very few conservatives, for example, may be
buying GE labeled products simply based on the idea that NBC is a liberal, left-wing
outlet, and therefore GE will support liberal ideology both in its marketing and in its
contributions to campaigns, for example.
