A: it's just another way of making more money, always will be someone willing to invest in
however many pieces they end up with. in today's market, your calling it a break up. in
yesteryears market you called it a spinoff. more - Post your own answer

Sooz.
Retail. Grrrrrr.
Personally I'm loving URBN. All my friends are ditching Paige Premium 200+ jeans
for URBN under 60's and picking up the cheapie boyfriend cardigans and the means
wear is really kicking. And Anthropologie is just so pretty and holds up on
ebay.

A: Ms M. For the first time, in when I dont know how long, I am looking at retail and
restaurant stocks and some other stocks that do well early in recession recovery. I like
COST even lower, but you know I dont shop at those high end stores you do more - Post your own answer

Good morning David.
So nice that you're here.
So. Rumors and news. NYT glum on banks, TIME Magazine suggesting an across the
board 30% discount to all mortgages and WFC making a mistake on their quarterly
... well.
The banks said they don't think they need more money and they're loaning and
January was fine. Does any of this fit and make sense?
There's been incredible amounts of money made in the banks in the last ten days
with modest givebacks.
Sorry for clumping so much in - it's just that muddy, I think.
Thank you. -

A: Many banks, including WFC, are very aggressive with computing earnings. I don't think you
can trust EPS for financials in this market. more - Post your own answer

From Business Week - a couple of stocks that have raised their dividends for
five years and are growing ... for your consideration.
GD has raised its dividend 17% annually, averaged over a five-year period. Its
current dividend yield is 2.4%. Teva posted estimated sales of $11 billion in
2008, and analysts expect $14.9 billion in 2009. Teva has seen payouts grow a
yearly average of 28.9% over a recent five-year period. -

A: General Dynamics and Teva don't have the biggest yields out there, but you have to take
consistent dividend increases where you can get them these days.
That's why I've been interested in Monsanto (MON) lately, even though it's payout is also
on the smaller side.
FWIW, I prefer Northrop Grumman (NOC) to GD. Slightly higher yield, with no Gulfstream
exposure. more - Post your own answer

Just a thought ...
Dartboardtrader started it ... posting a buy and entry. I think it's a wonderful
idea and think we could all benefit in this odd markket that is not playing by
any known rules but thriving on rumors/news and emotion or sudden press releases
and squeezes that send inferior stocks up 20% or so.
It might be very healthy to post a trade, entry and what you were thinking ...
we can praise you or talk you down.
Thanks Dartboardtrader and Valuemac for starting this ... and yes, Sooz -
because she does this a lot.
It might improve our peripheral sight of the market because it's pretty hard to
pay attention to absolutely everything. -

A: Hi Divine One...If I am reading you correct..are you asking us to post some of our trades
in real time here. If so, that is a great idea...I set up a lot of buy stop orders at
certain levels depending on what time of the day it is...if that is it let me know..for
temp I am not trading...family member is very sick..sometimes life comes first...but they
are getting better. more - Post your own answer

Jon.
Could you talk about BAC, C and WFC.
They (for a couple of days, kind of a lifetime here)have held at the range
they're at today, again.
Just thinking of them as trading stocks, not investments but can't grasp the
blitz of attention on them
Thanks. -

Hello Jud.
Things in the real world are actually and factually dreadful. The stock market
moves, I think, like a giant heartbeat living on emotion and news. If the
reality is grim and will be grim for some time - certainly a year - is the stock
market multiple still too high? If it is too high, how does the multiple go
lower? In other words, still a touch clumsy, with unemployment nearing 10% at
least, how can the market forward-think into a getting-better-pretty-soon
scenario?
Thank you. -

A: You make a great point, and the headline numbers will continue to stink. I don't think we
will start to see positive numbers until first quarter 2010. But the idea is that the
market is a discounting mechanism as you know. So I think that the bet is that while
earnings will fall, they will not fall below the level that we saw in the 12 months eneded

The Cramer baiting is repugnant.
The insulting names below for President Obama are sickening.
Easy to be done here.
Not liking that this is dumbing down, disrespectful and insulting to anyone who
doesn't have the same kind of Oz beliefs - you know, dumb animal hatred.
Really, really done.
Oh and Skee's liberty to rant inanely and ignorantly is not about political
opinion. Stupidity and name calling ... not opinion.
