- Q:
Dear Jim and others,
If we were getting proper output from Iraq in oil, would oil be at 90/barrel? or
less?
Everyone talks about drilling here and offshore... we are in Iraq and it's time
to get our dues. Take over oil fields and drill drill drill; use that money to
pay for war and help rebuild Iraq.. It's a win win. Oh and lower gas prices
while we are at it?
Only drawback... other countries will hate us (more). -

A: Excuse me?
Iraq's oil is available for sale. Not for American nationalization.
Our dues from Iraq are quite open for debate.
There are more than a few drawbacks.
Perhaps it would be more realistic to write to your congressman with your opinions -
whether it's to demand more AMERICAN drilling or also more subsidies to commercialize alt
energy. more - Post your own answer

- Q:
Is there a formula to figure out how much a stock needs to move up before a
short squeeze will start happening? Like shares outstanding, %as short, price,
etc....
couldn't one of the big boys just do the math and buy shares and the stock up to
where that point is or even higher, to cause a massive short squeeze?
(simple example: stock is at 3, short squeeze "point" is at 4, they used the
math to figure this out... so they buy the stock up to that point and let the
shorts have to cover and then the stock has to go up even higher)
Thanks! -

A: there's all sorts of websites like shortsqueeze.com that say they can predict the squeeze,
but you have to pay them and they're not very good at the service they provide. it isn't
worth it for an institutional investor/fund to drive a shortsqueeze unless they're in
collusion with other funds, which is rare unless they know someone's in trouble, then they
drive him into the ground. other than that it's a waste of money, even for the
billionzillionaire funds. more - Post your own answer

Question about shorting... If you short a stock and it goes out of business-to

A: Usually they'll get delisted and you can pick them up for a few pennies on the pink sheets
or OTC.
zero is a nice number, but it's a bit theoretical. more - Post your own answer

because I don't see any downside to this stock in the next 3-4 weeks...

A: This is a good dividend stock. I wouldn't chase the dividend because the payout will be
priced into the stock price. ie the share price will go down. more - Post your own answer
